If that was a short while before I was born (1961-62 season), it all ended in tears as we finished bottom and Liverpool top. By the time I was born, there was a World Cup on.

That season, Ipswich won the league.

My first full season didn’t end well, either, as we crashed straight through to Division 4!

That's not the 61-62 season; it's the 59-60 season.

Good question but the records for the season concerned are complicated, The Albion were fourth in " the FL Cup (South) Group 1", sounds good but there only seem to have been four teams in the league or group.
