worrying post
'Twas indeed. We went from being one game away from the top division in 1991 to being one game away from the Conference in 1997. What a decline in six years. Whatever happens over the course of the play-offs I CANNOT see that scenario being repeated. I said something similar to that once before (in 1979 I maintained that we'd never go back to being a side stuck in the third division again) and was proved sadly and badly wrong, but I really can't see us slumping down towards the Conference again in my lifetime.I was there. It's the only time my ex ever came to a football match - and she hated it, I was glad she never came again! Brings back mixed memories of a great occasion, but not a great day!
It was also the end of an era. That team surpassed themselves that year. In the next year players were let go and there was no investment and the bad days had begun.
Sat right by the box with Des Lynam about four seats along.
Dead Wilkins forgot that he had scored in the post match interview, saying that we'd been done 3 zip.
I thought we had two good chances to score before County did, or is my memory playing tricks on me?
