Slightly unfair on Debbie. She was 33 when that photo was taken. Here she is at 23 in 1968. She was a good looking woman back then, but she wasn't going to be the inspiration for Madonna, Grogan (https://www.theguardian.com/culture...mages-clare-grogan-dont-talk-to-me-about-love) and several thousand other wannabes over the last five decades. She's nearly 80 now, almost 20 years older than Clare Grogan, and she still has the fierce spirit that made her the coolest woman on the planet for half a decade or so from 1978.View attachment 157446
OK, both already mentioned but worth repeating. Clare actually improved with age, not so much Debbie Harry.
That is my uncles sister, sadly both have passed now.
I was working at Gatwick Airport when she came through a V.I.P. area, she actually looked at me and smiled!! Stunningly beautiful in the flesh.
TBF, Debbie Harry was already in her 30s when Blondie released their first album. By the time this came out:OK, both already mentioned but worth repeating. Clare actually improved with age, not so much Debbie Harry.
Met her once - well, saw her anyway. Most bizarre. I was working in the drawing office of a factory in the eary 1980s, and had to deliver some drawings to the technical dept. on the top floor (which was shared with the MD and other bigwigs in the company). Pounding along the corridor in my toe-tector boots (everyone on site had to wear them (I've still got mine to do the gardening 40 years later!)) I passed this lady in the corridor waiting outside one of the offices.
Nadia Comaneci during the 1976 Summer Olympics. I was 15 and raging with hormones. It was really hot in the US Midwest that summer and my nan didn't have any air conditioning at that time.
I loved her
Oh my lord, good call!
