Who took part in the friendly boycott?

I would say the size of the crowds were exactly what everybody, club and fans, were expecting.

The only boycott I've been involved in was the 2nd half against Mansfield and even then I wasn't that keen on leaving...

I hope it WAS Mansfield, but if not that was the game I left at half time after the fireworks (??) went off? It really is all a bit fuzzy now

The boycott was Mansfield, the firework walk out 15 minutes from time was hereford:thumbsup:
pyro support given by the birdman and heath eagle from my back garden:moo:

Mansfield was the boycott game where the official attendance as issued by the club differed considerably to the visible number of people in the ground. I remember going down to the Goldstone anyway to see what would happen, realising how difficult it would to wilfully not go into an Albion home game. I think the Mansfield game was picked after a vote at a meeting at Hove Town Hall.

There were pickets outside urging the few not to go in. Loads milling around outside refusing. Then mysteriously a turnstile was found to be open on the East Terrace & people flooded in for free. Many of whom legged it across the pitch to say hello to Bellotti at some point.

The walkout was bizarre too. Everyone knew it was going to happen, and that we would be given a sign, but nobody knew what it was, so there was a palpable sense of almost nervous anticipation as the game rolled on.

I remember the fireworks going off and that was it, most of the people around me just turned & walked out- some were slower to take it up than others, but I think most did in the end. The venom on display as we gathered in Newtown Road behind the West Stand after walking out was amongst the most passionate I've ever seen people at the Albion, even amongst some of the older, more sedate supporters. It had really come down to us walking out on our own beloved football team.

Amazing and depressing (but also strangely unifying).

If 1 person whining like a baby counts as a boycott then judging by what I read in these forums, there's a permanent boycott.

Only now do I look back on all this and smile.also the traffic light protest after
Darlington, probably the most depressing night ever watching the Albion.Every week we would go to the Goldstone wondering what protest was going to happen today.
