North Stand, Row Q
Herein lies the problem, I would suspect that the majority of fans in the North Stand would prefer to stand, it enhances their matchday experience.

I am guessing that the Safety Manager needs to get the crowds to sit down, otherwise someone might rebuke some certificate or other.

Personally I miss the genuine illogical passion of an old school game, but I come from a different time.

I do hear that at times stewarding can be stifling, not just with us but throughout the grounds.

It will all change, at some stage football will experience hardship and crowds will dwindle, only then will there be an effort to give fans what they want.

In many ways football is a unique business model, they dictate to their customers rather than the other way round and in typical British fashion we accept it and condemn others that dont conform.

There will be a time when beer will be available throughout the stadium and safe terracing will return and maybe even reasonable ticketing prices, but be patient we are just a generation behind our German colleagues.

Lets see the powers at be start at the top then, lets say Manu Utd or Man City, or (toppish) Liverpool. Have you seen the standing that goes on?
Oh, and one more thing, I note that when the TV camaras visit, there are no such issues with standing to create an atmosphere........must be safer to stand then, right? Like it was safer to stand up in the 2nd half today than in the 1st? No steward doing the 'Oi, sit down' in the second half today...............

I assumed it must have been thrown by a Huddersfield fan in the home end, it was thrown from the general sale seats - glad to see him in the police van in hand cuffs when we left the ground - just the sort of thing we don't need as the ref will put it in his report no doubt as he did inspect both bottles.

The thrower was in the WSL directly below us, near the back in block H.

Don't know why you do that when your celebrating? Alcohol talking?

In WSL bottle was thrown from around row S or T or looked like from where I was sitting. TBH the stewards were straight there are the bottle was thrown.

The guy who was removed by stewards was wearing brighton hat and scarf, so to think it was one of our own is sad.

There seemed a very hostile atmosphere in the North and that needs to be managed better. The stewards need to manage the stand much better, if they lose it they won't get it back.

Yeah we're all real unmanageable out of control animals in the North !
What planet are you from mate ?
Just because one idiot decides to throw something on the pitch (not even proven yet if it came from the North)
you think everyone in the NS should be chastised !!!

Bring back the birch ? Hanging ? Ban anyone who has a passion for their team and gets a bit angry ?

GET A LIFE !!!

In his haste to blame the NS (again) he seemed to completely miss the the fact that the bottle was thrown from the WSL..... :ffsparr:

I saw one of them thrown and it deffinately came from the North Stand near the corner.

What about next season not renewing their tickets in the NS and instead split them up and spread them all around the stadium?

:lolol: Standard from you. Coherent, well thought out and to the point.

So it was, but it doesn't really change much does it? Whilst everyone else is watching the game, the North are singing "we'll stand if we want" and shouting "wanker, wanker" at a steward. You carry on and do what you want to, that's the point. I'm really not bothered by it, when the North decide to get behind the team it's a fantastic sound and gets everyone going. I just think it's a shame the North is as well known for being anti-Steward as it is for being the hub of the atmosphere.

For someone who does not sit in the NS, and is "really not bothered by it"....... you seem to have a lot to say. At least after 3 pages you have now realised that it was not the NS that threw the bottle, which really is what this thread is about.
The point you are now making has been on other threads, where you have also commented, even though you are "really not bothered by it".
I have witnessed the few incidents, which others, who also are seated in the NS, have given their views on, the stewards pick on an easy target, normally about every 4-5 weeks, probably under instruction, and then for the next few weeks, everyone enjoys themselves again.

Respect is the key word. Do you sit in the North? If so, is it your opinion the stewards enhance the experience or spoil it? There should be a lighter touch approach, not a heavy handed one. It is tough to get right from the clubs' perspective because in reality they probably don't really care if fans stand. If you take your kids in there, fair enough, but be aware there is standing. We've all bren through it, being a kid and not being able to see properly and it hasn't done any of us too much harm so why should it now?

But the FA don't allow it. And there are regulations. Safe standing is very important in my opinion, people want the option to stand and they should have it. Legally and without the need for confrontation. The sooner someone with power realises the will of the ONLY people who matter, the better.

I did last season and frankly thought all the "Stand up if you hate palace" nonsense when the stewards came around was pathetic. They are there to do a job, and fans know that they aren't allowed to stand in the North unless they are in the back rows, but still don't play ball. For me, the sight of grown men ignoring the pleas of stewards when they can fully hear what is being asked of them, is akin to a schoolboy playing up in front of the teacher.

It might not be as clear cut as that, but I guess I am just someone that does things that are asked of me. I wouldn't say it was a fact in me now longer being in the North, but I'm more than happy where I am now, and don't miss the tedium of grown men acting like spoilt brats. Plus I couldn't contain my indifference regarding Crystal Palace over any other club that Brighton play, so for me the people that did stand up were just blocking my view of the game.

This 100%......not a fan of standing but do believe there should be a set area for standing for those who want too...but until the rules change it will not happen.

Up here on the left.
According to today's Argus, there were 3 arrests at the game on Saturday. Two were for public order offences in the North stand and the other for bottle throwing from the West stand

We are talking about a plastic bottle ??

25 000 people and someone threw a plastic bottle, maybe a little silly, but c'mon ....

I just can't quite join in the despair on this one.

There will be a time when beer will be available throughout the stadium and safe terracing will return and maybe even reasonable ticketing prices, but be patient we are just a generation behind our German colleagues.

Not all the while we have idiots (even if it is only 2) throwing bottles on to the pitch.

It only took 12 years to get approval for The Amex and stupid incidents are the things the 'antis' roll out when they try and block our plans. By itself it was a minor incident but we all know that it will be reported and the club will probably be punished with a fine. The twat(s) responsible should be made to pay the fine for the club.

Guess I'm in the minority for not really being too bothered about a bottle or two being thrown on an empty corner of the pitch after we score at the opposite end. If it had been aimed at someone or there had been people in that area then it'd be completely different. If the guy(s) were thrown out then that should be enough, would be surprised to see the club fined.
