Would definitely tip the paperboy/girl if I had one, did that job as a kid and can verify the money was poor, however it did give me the work ethic of getting up early every day...certainly stood me in good stead for work as an adult. Used to look forward to Christmas as the tips on the round I did used to be equivalent to about 4-5 weeks wages...imagine if someone gave you a bonus like that today!

I have been lucky with my last 5 postmen and they all got a decent xmas tip. The dustman can f*** off though, they leave bin lids all over the place and won't walk 10 yards to collect the bin which has to be left right on the side of the road to get emptied

Case of Stella each for the Postie and the Binmen

Bet the postman loves lugging that round in his bag!

That's the worst part about festivals, carrying a couple of cases of Stella and a tent from your car to the campsite.

Same here, my postman gets a good tip cos he's done a few favours for us, and always give the paperboy a tip (although him and his mates are a bunch of little gits!) but our dustmen dont get anything cos they leave our bins blocking the driveway when we dont leave them there in the first place

Not a tip exactly, but I chuck some money in the firemen's buckets every time I go past Preston Circus. Which this week is about four times a day. Most people seem to be doing the same. May their buckets brimmeth over

Binmen here were ordered to stop taking them some time in the 1980s IIRC, postmen never expect them.

Effectively nobody for me. Possibily the barstaff crew in my local, but thats about it.

See you've confused the binmen. Left or right? make you mind up.

Interesting though because using the words left or right in the context of your sentance does not give any direction. No wonder our langauge is hard for others to learn.

Sorry Bored:down:

You guys tip people??

Bloody hell - what a bizarre thing to do, is it because they do hard jobs or because they don't get paid well - I don't get it?? Our postie changes weekly, and the bin men are been and gone by 7am....The parcel force man is nice, that was until he joked about me being in my pj's at 10am...

My 13 year old son is a paper boy, since his birthday in January. He has never once been late, papers are put through the door so they don't get wet, on a Saturday and Sunday, with all the supplements etc, its a nightmare...he has two full sacks. He is out in all weathers.

He gets £2.30 on a weekday and £2.50 at weekends.

I think he does a good job for poor pay.

He's had tips from about 1/2 of his houses, usually a fiver, one tenner, and a couple of pounds...totally about £60 in all I think. So that is just under 3 weeks wages.

But he was touched by some of the nice comments with the money.

I don't tip anyone else though!!
