Each time he played last season he did alright for us - a capable replacement. I don't understand the negativity towards him.

Indeed. Last year in the games I saw he did ok. I don't think he was great against Soton but he was probably our least worst full-back. The evaluation of Dunk and Chicksens performances last year on here by a lot of people doesn't seem to be based on what happened on the pitch.
