who should england drop in the next test

There are some weird choices there: Strauss, Anderson, Onions and Prior have had a pretty good Ashes so how could anyone advocate dropping these?
It's a bit of an over-reaction: this time last week we were all lauding this team for being on the brink of going two up in the Ashes series, now we have to drop all of them.
I predict that if we lose this, England will make just two changes - they'll bring back Flintoff (who's not as "talismanic" as people think - England win more and lose fewer when he's not in the side - but will, rightly, be undroppable for the final test) and, unless he makes a big score second time round, drop Bopara.
Talk of bringing back Trescothick (who is never going to play for England again) and Ramprakash (who has failed over and over) is just nonsense. The selectors have to stick with the side that has done well so far - one bad day in the office doesn't change the fact that this is, injuries aside, the best possible selection.

No-one has mentioned Owais Shah. Always done pretty well when called upon in the past before being dropped for a 'bigger name.' Could bat at 3 and either drop/move down Ravi Bopara.

He was rubbish on the West Indies tour though earlier this year. Imho Key shold bat at 3. Broad Has to make way for Freddies swansong.

My suggestion is that we should bring in Trescothick just to win the 1 game the final test as he is by far the best opener in the country. In the same situation we did this years ago with David Shephard and he scored a ton. We then resume normal service and look to the future after we have regained The Ashes.
Mark Ramprekash failed as a young man but now has the experience and is possibly the most consistent batsmen in county cricket which is the only measure that you have on which to pick a batsman.
It worked when they brought back Shepherd and Brian Close so why not now to win The Ashes

To bring back both Trescothick and Ramprekash would also act as kick up the arse to those in the respective positions at the moment and not perorming well enough.

Ramprakash failed consistently over the course of 11 years and 52 test matches. He played his last test match at the age of 32. The fact is that even when he had 15 years of first class, and a decade of international experience, he still couldn't cut the mustard. Seven years on, there's no reason to believe that he'd do any better.

Or any worse than the current players are doing but the people being touted for a place are no better eg Key, Shah etc.
Drop Cook and Prior, they clearly cannot bat like the rest!!
First innings 102 all out - Prior 37 not out, he can bat better than most evidently. Australia found his weakness early in the series and opened him twice, but it hasn't happened since.
Also who would you bring in to replace Prior as keeper. There may be a couple better glovemen then Prior but no better Keeper/Batsman.
Also Cook was the other player to only reach double figures in the first innings. Class batsman, had a weak start in this series, but will prove himself at Oval.
Think about it, Bopara needs to go

Without going on about it why not BEG Trescothick to play one final test match at the Oval and play Strauss at No 3? especially as Aussies will be going for a draw when they have won tomorrow.

Aussies going for a draw? Are you taking the piss? They'll want a series win and to be the no. 1 side in the world, neither of which they will have if they go for the draw.

That was probably the wong way to express it. Their first concern will be not to lose so may bat too long so that we cant win but then the match inevitably finish in a draw.
