I can see no reason why Erickson should not be manager. That stupid story in the New of The World should make no difference. He was talking about what he would do after he has won the world cup with England. What he is reputed to have said about Beckham Owen etc was probably said in a totally different context than it was reported.

The lowest of the low newspaper journalists with an imagination to report what they think should have been said not what was actually said.

OMG I am in agreement with BG:thud:

Four times as many people have gone for Allardyce than Mourinho. Err, why? Can someone explain to me how Sam f***ing Allardyce would do a better job than European Cup winning Jose Mourinho.

:nono: :nono: :nono:

'cos he's English and that should be a requisite of the job!

I cannot believe that people are suggesting Sam Allardyce as there is no way the Tie and Blazer Brigade at FA Headquarters would accept him and his forthright attitude. You are not permitted to call a spade a spade it is a small metal flat surfaced tool with a long handle that is used for digging.

I can see it now.

Kevin Davies was sent off for England this afternoon in the 2-1 reverse to the hands of wales, Allardyce's only word on the matter was "it was the refs fault"

Why the sudden shout for Pearce what has he ever achieved as a manager, good player granted passionate but no experience at the top as a manager only ever sacked by Forest.

I don't think he was sacked by Forest. He did the job as Caretaker after Clough left (won Manager of the Month in his first month), but it was too late to save them. They then appointed Frank Clark during the summer. Hardly sacked was he

Ericson till after the world cup.

Can't think of anyone i would rather see as England manager than Stuart Pearce, but it is 5 years too early.

Severe lack of other alternatives, O'Neill if he becomes available again or Benitez, with Pearce as assistant to take over after next world cup in 4 years.

I think he took over from Frank Clark, did they then not bring Bassett in and Pearce went to Newcastle?

Quite obviously that more people would prefer to have an ENGLISH manager...else the media wouldnt go on about england v sweeden so much would they....GOON

All that matters is who would do a better job for England. I couldn't give a toss whether more people want an Englishman to manage England, it doesn't affect how the team play.

Why Benitez ahead of Mourinho?
Mourinho won the the two european cups with a far weaker squad than liverpool's and instilled in both the teams the will to not lose games, something that for all his achivement Benitez hasn't really done

I can't BELIEVE Allardyce and Pearce are leading this poll. Or rather, sadly, I can. 40 more years of under-achievment coming up then.

I voted for Guus Hiddink!

I went for Mourinho, but I think Scolari would do a great job and would be more likely to come.

Just look at what he did with Portugal..... blows the whole bullshit "can't have a foreigner as manager" argument out of the water. He is BRAZILIAN and he managed PORTUGAL. Not that the Little Englander boneheads will take much notice.
