What difference does it make whether Taricco's header was on target? Sandaza stuck the ball in the net so it's his goal regardless.

It makes a lot of difference actually.
If Tanno's effort was on target and deflected (which I believe it was cos it didn't look like a controlled finish by Sandaza), it would have been Tanno's.
As it was off target, it's Sandy's.

That only tends to be with own goals, though, doesn't it? For actual goals, it's usually the last to get the tough that claims it.

EDIT: For instance, there was a lob from Lualua that was heading in, Murray took a touch and claimed the goal. It was on target and going in anyway, but Murray took the goal.

Not necessarily. Could depend on how big a deflection and whether the keeper could have saved the original effort.

Sandancer's goal

Sat in Block C it was definitely Fran's goal he moved towards the header from Tano which was going wide. Bizarrely even the FA's website has Tano scoring, shame that Fran didn't take the pen as well he was desperate to score a second.

What the hell are you on about man? Listen, Fran kicked the ball into the net, his goal end of. Doesnt matter if tarrico's shot was going in or hitting the corner flag ITS SANDAZZA'S GOAL. I despair on here sometimes.

They're quite good at getting some of the basics wrong aren't they?

Last season I think it was, Nicky Forster scored an overhead kick against... well, someone away from home. The PA credited Tommy Elphick with it, and when someone from within the Albion - it might have even been you, Ferret, or Paul Camillin, tried to correct it, the man from the Press Association wouldn't have it and a bit of a barney ensued.

It's a third or fourth-hand story, so it may have got lost a bit in translation, but I'm sure something like that happened.

Walsall or Wycombe away I think.

I was in Block B... am I the closest so far, geographically?

It was Sandaza. Very clever from Taricco to head it into the middle though, where we had a body ready to pounce. A less experienced player might have gone for the near post, but he showed a wise old head and put it into the mix. He deserves credit, but not the goal. And I doubt he'd really want it anyway.

You're clearly confused. Even if it had hit Sandaza on the arse it would have been his goal. Whether or not a shot is on target only makes a difference if it hits a defending player.

The Press Association Journalist?

Who updates the Albion text service as that claimed it was Taricco that scored. I assumed that we had a bod at the club who types the message and then sends it out en masse?

^^^ Again, this is a feed from the Press Association. While the club can and do send out editorial text messages, which includes the managers post match comments; goal alerts and team line-ups etc. are handled centrally for all clubs
