If people are gonna judge Ashley Barnes on penalties, then what about players such as Ruud Van Nistlerooy, Alan Shearer, Michael Owen and the rest? I know it's a bit different as they were world class players but a lot of their goals that were scored were penalties.

You do know they don't just pull a name out of a hat to decide who takes the penalties?

Yes I know. Was just saying that Barnes was our leading scorer because he takes the penaltys and if he didn't then he wouldn't be our top scorer.

Aside from Hall I'd be unpleasantly surprised if we sold anyone we didn't want to go .. other than that then,
Put in good shifts but time to move on ..... Ankergren, Dicker, Sparrow, Painter
Just not good enough ..... Harley
Possibly surplus to needs (why 3 top draw wingers?) ..... Noone
Not in favour (?) ..... Hoskins, Bergkamp

Can't disagree with this.

Crap Town
Barnesy was getting more goal scoring opportunities from open play with a tip top service from Vicente. Before that CMS and Barnesy were feeding off scraps.

Ankergren , Painter and Harley are just 3 players who wouldn't attract a fee if the club made them available on the transfer list , a few more could be added.

And if Barnes scored more pens then we might have finished higher, he missed a few

I would imagine that other clubs may be monitoring future events when it comes to Dunk, if it's a positive outcome then a big club will surely come in for him. If it's a negative outcome....well...that's a conversation for another time and thread..

This, although im not sure Nooney will go, maybe if Cardiff come back with a good bid and if we sign Assulin.

I would say yes when it leads to goals against, wouldn't you?... Or have I got this football lark all wrong?

Gus believes in him, you don't.

Hmm, who has the greater credibility?

...but he did take them, and he scored all but one if I remember correctly...A goal is a goal is a goal is a goal, whether from the penalty spot or not.

I have always been a HUGE fan of Barnes

How many times did he finish well throughout the season 4/5 times?most were penalties i think.
Most were not penalties - he scored 5 or 6 pens and 8 or 9 from open play. So he finished well more often than anyone else at the club.

I really think Dunk is likely to be sold and I have a bad feeling about Bridcutt who, in my view, is good enough to make the step up.

...

If Bridcutt goes do we have anyone to cover? I certainly can't see Kasim stepping up.
If Bridcutt goes we will have to sign a(nother) midfield player, for sure. I think his dip in form and amount of cards might put some off - for the first third of the season he looked like a Premiership player, after that he was not quite as good (consistently). Still good for us, but maybe not yet ready to make the step up?

I don't see why we'd sell Greer or Calderon. Gus always says he won't stand in players way, and that every player has the fee. I don't see the clubs after them being able to take them away.

Noone, someone said on here we accepted Cardiff's final bid but he turned it down. Even if that's not true they can't have been far of meeting the asking price, maybe they'll be back in for him, who knows.
Dunk, if a Premiership club comes in with a decent offer, we'll sell. I guess any interest out there is on hold for the moment anyway.

Players we might let go more willingly, Sparrow, Harley, Ankergren, Hoskins. Not Dicker, obviously, and Painter though not quite up to what we're looking for would be a good squad player who can cover a couple of positions. Barnes is a ridiculous suggestion.
