Although McGhee arguably achieved the most with promotion followed my escaping relegation on a shoe string with a very limited squad.

I was more gutted about Cattlin's sacking than any other manager before or since.

For that reason I have to go with Chris Cattlin, that man LOVED the Albion. We haven't had too many managers like that.

If you weren't around at the time it's difficult to explain what went on then. There was this fantastic coming together of the board, management, players and fans. A packed Goldstone, flowing football, seagull specials, Wardy, Horton, Lawrenson. Great times

People saying Hughton because of the last 20 games. Mad, can't really properly judge him until his time is done...just look at the lack of votes for Gus in this thread, he'd have stormed to victory in this poll 3 years ago.

For me, Slade then Coppell

Jimmy Melia simply because he gave me the gift every schoolboy that loves the beautiful game dreams of,
to see his football team in an FA Cup Final and on a beautiful hot sunny day too (the first game)
something I may never, unfortunately see again before I draw my last breath on this Earth.
But hey who knows ?
Thank you Mr Melia I am forvever in your debt Sir  best day of my life ever !

Archie Macauley purely for the best show of attacking football you were ever likely to see in season 64/5. Fact that we had an England centre forward who had scored around 200 goals in the first division might have helped but it was unforgettable.

He also got us relegated after 4 years in the top flight, though it was probably inevitable at some point, as it was for a lot of clubs of Brighton's size at the time.

At the moment nobody compares to Mullers and what he achieved getting us to the 1st division and playing good football. CH may catch him in 5 months time but until then it is all hope so my top 3 are:

Mullers for what he achieved
Billy Lane who complete with his daily red rose in his lapel took us to Div II our first ever promotion.
Steve Gritt no where near the best in fact his record was fairly poor, but he kept us in the FL so must take credit for that. Who knows what would have happended had he failed.

For what he did for my club: Steve Gritt

For creating the best pub team I've ever seen: Mickey Adams

For the best footballing side to wear the stripes: Gus Poyet. I wasn't interested in his press conferences, it was just the football for me.
