I had a post deleted on Brightonfans. I don't normally go on there as it's not a welcome place for anybody who questions the London Irish judgement on ANYTHING.
I felt I had to respond though, as this was a particularly nasty and spiteful piece of conjecture and lies.
LI posted:
blah, blah blah (bit boring - this is the bit that's really juicy) ...But you are right that the McGhee era did begin to unravel around that time, but it was more off-pitch events that caused it to happen. It was then that leading money-donor Tony Bloom decided he had more right to pick the team than the manager, and because his mate Kuipers wasn't getting in ahead of Henderson, he then decided to start a campaign to get McGhee sacked. It is worth asking now how much our failure to strengthen in that January 2006 window was down to that fact, how well we could have done with spending £300k on a player if we were serious about staying in the Championship.
But anyway, Bloom got what he wanted, McGhee sacked and we've had 2 years of mediocrity on the pitch and record low crowds at Withdean since. Cheers Tony.
So I posted:
I'd see a doctor about your terminally jaundiced outlook in life if I were you LI.
Oh, and that post is tosh. From start to finish.
Keep up the good work.
LI's post remains despite it being defamatory to one of our most loyal backers and the man who bought the wonderkid, Murray. Mine was deleted. I've reposted it but no idea how long it will remain.
I presume that the mods on there deleted my post because they thought I was out of order (being a muppet according the board rules). So, please indulge my paranoia and vote in the poll because in my eyes what LI posted is very muppet-ish.
