I think he still lives in Hanover, used to drink regularly with my oldest mates Dad.
Didn't know that, interesting.

He lived in Brighton when I was a kid. My mum part owned a horse with his Mrs and some other people and they became friends so met him a few times including going for dinner at their house (I was properly starstruck as a lad but he was just really nice).

I've got a personalised "Merry Christmas" drawing of the penguin on my bathroom wall.

Met him again when he was doing a talk in Sheffield a few years ago. A proper down to earth guy who just happens to be exceptionally talented.

Liza Donnelly is a very talented cartoonist .

She has done lots of cartoons for The New Yorker Magazine and she is also the resident cartoonist for CBS News.

Bill Watterson with Calvin and Hobbes.

I absolutely love his work, and massively admire the fact that he did things completely on his terms. He could have made a fortune on merchandise, tv series etc, but refused and stayed true to his convictions. His work is brilliant but I love that he has steadfastly refused to sell out.

I saw Steve Bell " In conversation" with John Scrace at The Ropetackle, Shoreham a couple of years back. He was explaining some of this themes when it came to drawing politicians... Cameron with a condom on his head, Osborne in a gimp costume and Johnson as a pair of buttocks..... Highly entertaining evening, John Scrace came over as a great bloke too!

exceptionally telented indeed. not only a great artist but a good satirist as well.

In my technical folder at work I have a few snippets from work related news articles and a few of his cartoons, these from around '95 are brilliant. bell.jpg

Brilliant. I'd forgotten about his "psycho Blair". [emoji23]

Like the best satire, he's always been happy to have a pop at anyone, regardless of their politics.

Oh man. The Freak Brothers stuff was superb. Smoking weed with mates as a teenager and reading those. Almost had a seizure from laughing so hard (to complete the cliché we were listening to Steely Dan at the time). [emoji23]

There are lots of good ones but it was Gerald Scarfe who first made me see it as an art form.
As opposed to Matt who is consistently amusing.
Im not a Telegraph reader, but have a shop that sells papers :)

Steve Bell did one of the Christmas University Challenges. Can't remember which uni he had gone to but he basically carried the whole team. So knowledgable it was ridiculous. Seemed like a decent chap.

There were several candidates missed of the poll so therefore it is fraud.

Good shout for Dr Suess. Anyone who gets a word into the dictionary must be good.
