Its amazing how many medals you can actually get serving after WWII, you see the old and bold with so many but you like yourself you could cover your chest with nearly as many. I presume I was lucky to only serve in Northern Ireland 3 times, I was on standby for Falklands but never went, and could have gone on a few UN jobs but never volunteered. Still nice to see you did by far your time for Queen and Country.

What regiment were you in?

I was in 39 Regiment Royal Artillery, never understood how I ended up in this unit as it was a Birmingham Regiment, 26 Regiment RA was the Sussex Regiment. Good thing is I made some great mates and still keep in touch after meeting them 31 years ago. Even better one of my mates settled and still lives in Hove and he was from Herefore, he still gets stick :)

I also served in 200 Bty in Dyke Road for a while and the Royal Signals in London both in TA.

Nice collection. My father in law has some weird African medal, but he's a bit hazy on it. I reckon he got it for flogging fuel to the Arabs. Made it to Corporal. Four times.

No military background myself but just reading (for the third time) 'Tumbledown' by MC holder Robert Lawrence who had 45% of his brain blown away by an Argie high velocity bullet.

I've got an Op Telec (Iraq) medal in my office drawer and a couple of weeks ago I presented a Kosovo medal. No military service myself, I'm only an Hon. Field Marshall, but I can get the Medal Office to get their fingers out sometimes!

Shit. The Wanderers must have had one hell of a hooligan problem to require RA involvement.
