Who else on here has a Service Medal, I have the GSM Northern Ireland for 3 tours to Northern Ireland 1975, 1977 and 1979 and was only 22 on my last tour.

Its amazing how many medals you can actually get serving after WWII, you see the old and bold with so many but you like yourself you could cover your chest with nearly as many. I presume I was lucky to only serve in Northern Ireland 3 times, I was on standby for Falklands but never went, and could have gone on a few UN jobs but never volunteered. Still nice to see you did by far your time for Queen and Country.

Still bloody doing it! Final hurdle approaching, providing Princess Tony keeps his hands in his pockets and doesn't press the "deploy" button in the near future. I have a lump sum and a pension to collect.....

Bearing in mind that I haven't picked up an NI or an Afghan medal, missed out on the Cambodia and lots of the UN stuff as well. Seen people with more than me (including my ex-Boss who had an MBE as well!) Current boss has a DSC, next Boss has an MVO - I am the poor relation!

I'm always fascinated by the world of 'military', never having the remotest interest in joining the army myself and not having any good mates who did.

I think the men and women who defend this country are very brave, but they do of course sign up for it at the start as well as I'm sure some of the posters on here would recognise.

What I am intrigued about - junior, your signature is 'For God and Ulster' which seems to indicate your partisanship. How easy is it to do such a very difficult job properly when you lean so much to one side of the argument?

It's a good military keyboard, looks as though it's seen action. It's a rarity in that the keys are actually in the right place....one of the perks of late night security duties is going round and swapping keys of senior officers that you know do the 2-finger typing thing....

btw, anyone serving in the emergency services got a medal on the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
Why, I don't know. But hey - it looks cool so who's arguing?
