Will your son be going to the after school club at Stanford?

Someone ask me where I'd got or gone. So I replied Blatch as I went there. My son got Stanford Infants. Which we are pleased about. I hear the usual Balfour appeals are well under way.

I thought you said at the top it was ricidulous and unfair process - but now you're pleased with what you got?

I'm confused.

Feel sorry for other parents at nursery who have got to go to schools 3 miles away. They have changed the boundary now it cuts off around Robertson Road. That means if you live between Dyke Road and Robertson Road you might get a school in Hangleton.

I'm not happy because I didn't get the school I wanted either.

I think the fact I will be 57 tomorrow is somewhat irrelevant.

Will you be making an appeal?

Sorry to be ignorant but can anyone tell me about the 'usual Balfour appeals'? My grandson starts school next year and Balfour has told my daughter that he should have no trouble getting in as his home address, off Preston Drove, is within the automatically qualifying distance from the school gates.

My kids go there. It's a fantastic school (an Ofsted 'outstanding' one) and my kids love it (which is all you can ask for really).

Balfour is normally a very popular school for those who live in the Fiveways/Preston Park area. As such it often has to turn some children down, meaning parents appeal their decisions. It's developed a bit of a reputation for this as some of the parents in that area simply couldn't bare sending their kids to another Primary school.

What a crazy situation. They should go back to sending kids to their nearest school like they used to in the old days. It was easier and there was no such things as appeals. Somone is always going to get a raw deal here.

But what happens when you have an area, like Fiveways, that is absolutely littered with young families? The school can't randomly take an extra 25 kids on a year by year basis. Some have got to go further afield.
