Stolen from Algie on the Posh thread but I think worthy of separate discussion in this current climate of doom-mongery.

With a couple of exceptions, Grabban being the most noticeable, the 'in' list is basically 3rd and 4th division free transfers, or bottom wrung Premier League no marks.

Interesting how little money is changing hands, & how many free transfers there are amongst that lot.

Also that Dougie Freedman seems to be attempting to turn his corner of Greater Manchester into a sort of Palace-Millwall-Charlton ghetto.

Gary O'Neill is available and is more than capable.

Great news, my spare room needs painting & I really don't have time at the moment. Do you know how much he'd charge?

From the whole list: Kuszczak, Upson, Orlandi, Ulloa and ?? - :ffsparr:

Seriously if considering the business other teams have done, (same as algie), Matej Vydra, Matty Fryatt, Moses Odubajo, Ross McCormack, but would also add Mancienne (Forest).

If players that left on a 'free', would add Gilks (who went to Burnley) and Ince (but unrealistic). Not everyone's cup of team but Zat Knight used to be quite steady and also Eagles.

There's two on there I would love to see with us and I'm gobsmacked they've been overlooked; absolutely gobsmacked.

Ulloa and Upson. :hilton:

Edit - I never liked that 'One Teddy Maybank', never.

Other than a few notable exceptions it's bad players moving from team to team, NSC would be a hive of negativity if we had signed most of that lot.
Personally I think Nzuzi and O'Grady are intelligent bits of business, not sold on Hughes yet though.

I think Bournemouth have done well signing Gosling and Stanislas. Macheda would have been great, but wages will be huge. Plus Westwood, Fryatt and Vydra as already mentioned.

The only half decent players there have gone for money which in all honesty is more than we would be willing to pay so unrealistic targets for us. The rest are just uninspiring

Other than one decent season the year before last, and ripping us a new one on national TV, why the Vydra love?

Great balance and vision. To be fair on him, he wasn't given much of an opportunity at WBA last year.

EDIT - Think he would be a good fit with us, but then I also thought that about CMS!

There are loads of players on the in list that would have improved our squad. Even teams like Brentford (e.g. Odubajo, Hogan, Pritchard) and Bournemouth (Wilson, Gosling, Stanilas) have made better signings than we have. We could even do with some of the players on that list to bolster our squad even if they weren't going to be regulars (e.g. Donaldson, Webster, Christie). Unless the club do some serious business very soon I can honestly see us battling relegation.

Bearing in mind the absolute pooh storm that hit at the announcement of Toxteth's arrival.
You've listed 8 names that would melt NSC plus Odubajo who might just slide under the radar.
