Just out of interest, can anyone explain where this little gem came from or is it a case of repeat something often enough and it will become accepted as truth.

As far as I am aware, on one occasion DK told an incoming manager - Coppell I think but I may be wrong - that he wanted him to work with Bob Booker to keep some stability in the club. Sounded good enough at the time to me and the right thing to do on that occasion.

If the new manager didn't want to do that then he was free to not take the job.

I think not.

Erm, when you say the manager is free not to take the job, aren't you accepting the only way he can get the job is if he works with the current staff?

If the options are unemployment or work with the current set up, it's not really a great choice is it?


I seem to remember every new manager being trumpeted as willing to work with the current set up. I also remember it often being one of the attributes that Knight listed when asked what he was looking for.
