No never bought it - tosh of a paper. Only amazes me that Piers Morgan has never been involved with it, its such gash.

We get it delivered.

The headlines are always about the weather or price of things going up. It's an improvement on the Daily Mail which was a depressing rag. I read the Scum and Page 3 but never buy it because I haven't forgiven them for lying about Hillsborough in 1989 and my dad feels very strongly about that as he's a scouser and Liverpool fan.

It looks like the Mirror then the telegraph followed by the Grauniad have had the biggest fall percentagewise in readers.

I don't understand, I thought loads of NSC'ers liked their Porn and isn't Mr Desmond a Pornographer? ???

Only paper I buy is the Torygraph for something to read if I'm having a Pub Lunch. It is sadly going downhill and becoming more and more like the Daily Mail but still has brilliant Obituaries of Old Boys who won an immediate Military Cross for charging a machine gun nest at Anzio armed with just a swagger stick....

Nearly all the copies of the Daily Express I scan through the checkout are accompanied by a money off coupon cut out of the previous days edition.

Who buys any newspaper? All the news is available online these days.
Tabloids are just full of sensationalist lies.
Also the prints too small now I'm 50 !!

The classic (non-Diana/apocalyptic weather) Express headline was the day they published a front page stating "Aspirin cuts risk of dying by 25%"

Now I'm no medical expert, but....

My old man buys it every day, and has all his adult life as far as I'm aware.

He is 80 now, been happily married for 55 years, supported BHA all his life, fought in Malaysia during his National Service, never been in trouble with the law, was never out of work as a roof tiler and is an old school labour man.

It never occurred to me that he was a twat because of his choice of paper..............you live and learn.

worst paper i have ever read ! absolute dire

Not sure how it can be classified as a newspaper as agreed it is absolutely dire
I think my Grandad may have bought it after the Today newspaper went bust years ago so maybe it is an old biddy thing
You can normally find something positive to say about a daily newspaper, The Express has nothing worth mentioning

Indeed. It is hilarious the accusations of intolerance levelled at the Express and others when you read this thread, and what sort of person you clearly are if you read a certain paper.

I have a different take on this, since I worked for the paper for several years, and still contribute as a freelance, albeit in the relatively politics-free haven of sport. Do I think it's the best paper out there? Nope. Did I like the Diana and Maddie obsessions? Not at all.

But as a non-snob, I happen to believe there is a place in the market for papers looking at issues that actually affect people's lives at a micro level, whether it's taxes, refuse collection, whatever. We don't all want to read about the situation in Burma over the breakfast table every day.

Can't understand the vitriol heaped by NSC on readers of certain papers. Live and let live, they all have their place, just buy the one you like. Slagging everyone else's choice off seems a bit prejudiced to me.

Agreed. Personally I think its a self esteem issue. Some of the more fragile minded on here need to have their own personal outlook validated by others...........it is self gratifying, like a kind masturbatory act. Whether their own personal outlook has been formed independently or from another media or other more strongly minded individual is another matter.

The ultimate irony is that I suspect they believe they are enlightened liberals................not so:

bigot [ˈbɪgət]

noun - a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, esp on religion, politics, or race

[from Old French: name applied contemptuously to the Normans by the French, of obscure origin]
