Ward? Brighton legend of course but that's about it. And your comment about even Dalglish. I would have thought he would be on most people's lists. Maybe I was wrong.

Peter Ward was a really underated player, I had the pleasure of watching him numerous times, pacy, skillful, great finisher, should have achieved more, and you're right about Dalglish, I just think he's a :tosser: lol

I tried hard to look beyond personal favourites otherwise Pat Nevin and Dennis Tueart would have been included for sure but I'm afraid Peter Ward wouldn't even make the subs bench IMHO.

if you've got le tissier in there then surely rodney marsh and alan hudson ?

Ah but career-wise, Le Tiss showed his class consistently. Marsh was a wizard but lacked greatness because he just wasn't really into it. And I wouldn't have Hudson, sorry. Mercurial at best.

edit - and the likes of Robin Friday and Peter Marinello, another absolute waste of genius, are both pushing up the daisies.

Fair play lol, but I think he deserved a mention bless him, still one of my heroes having grown up watching him, surprised no one has mentioned Ian Wright

Was he any better than Lineker or Owen or Shearer or even Ally McCoist? I'm not sure, to be honest. I notice there's no black players in the list though. Perhaps Viv Anderson or Des Walker should get a mention.

Geoff Hurst ? Might just be worth including someone who scored a world cup final hat trick. In fact any member of that team who is still alive should be included.

I don't think he was ever one of the greats having read about him and what others thought of him. He got his place because Greaves was injured and Greaves still has, I think, the best strike rate of any England player. Just my opinion though.

I disagree with including any and everyone because they were part of a great team, George Cohen for example.

ian wright was a FAR better striker than ally mccoist who tried and failed to make it into the premier league, black players should be in there on merit, not just because of their colour, so ashley cole , love him or hate him should be on the list , certainly deserves it better than viv anderson

This thread is all about merit. I even included Man U players, that's how magnanimous I've been. I think Sansom was better than Ashley Cole, btw.

if we're looking at irish players then, in my view one of the most talented irish footballers of all time is paul mcgrath

(born in england anyway)

Ince definitely NOT. I'm going to be insistent on this. Great players do not bottle it on the big occasion and Ince did just that with refusing to take a penalty for England.
