Out of all the new bands being championed by the NME etc, who do you think is most likely to last the distance and be with us for more then a promising debut album and a shit second one that does not live up to all the hype?

Feel free to add ones I have not mentioned.

I particularly like The Killers and Razorlight from the list.

Razorlights second release (video with lead singer in phone box) hasnt seemed to made such a mark as Golden Touch did. ???

Also, you can't beat The Killers.....

I have heard of just one of those, am I the most out of touch person on NSC?

The one I have heard were unadulterated crap imho (and they didn't look or sound remotely German :) )

Agreed.

I can see Razorlight picking up much of The Libertines following as the bands are very similar and its well documented that they are very close.

Seeing them live the other night it struck me how similar they are. Would not surprise me if the lead singer eventually ended up in the libertines.

Franz Ferdinand are commercially the most marketable so I guess they may last the longest but I can see their next album being a bit samey as the first.

Dogs Die in Hot Cars sound nice but I can't see many of these bands lasting, especially when they fall out of favour with NME.

The Ordinary Boys are m favourite by miles but are the sort of outspoken band (well, Preston is) that will piss of the NME and once they get the hump with you its pretty bad.

One of their first tours avoided all the major venue Cities on purpose and they also said all their contemporaries were crap. I can see them slagging of the NME (rightfully) soon.

ALSO.

Look out for The Dead 60s. Their debut single Riot Radio is out now and ever since I saw them just over a year ago in Leeds Ive been looking forward to it. They are ace. A modern ska band from Liverpool. Very cool. Watch this space.

The Killers, without a shadow. Hot Fuss is absolutely supreme (bar a couple of tracks which are merely good) and I don't reckon any of these other bands have anything to touch them.

And The Music should not be mentioned along with this lot - they're absolutely dire. The first time I've seen a rat-faced bloke who really sounds like a rat. With shit songs. Take the long road and walk it? Take your stupid flares and f*** off my radio you spotty rat-faced prick.

I saw Funeral for a friend, The Rapture, Franz Ferdinand and The Von Bondies all play on the same bill at the Refectory in Leeds. Franz Ferdinand were the first band on and only allowed to play about 5 songs. About 40 people watched them.

How quickly things can change.

I absolutely loved them when I got sent their promo and couldnt get enough of listening to them, but once a band gets 'adopted' by The NME I tend to get a bit fed up of them. I like bands when not many people know about them.
