Robbie Reinelt, probably one of the most useless strikers ever to wear the stripes. (Sorry Robbie, l'm just being honest).

However, cometh the hour, cometh the man etc. etc. I mean, what else did he ever do in an Albion shirt, other than score what was probably the most important goal in our entire history?

Enough to make him a cult hero? . . . most definately.

Mark Ormerod for saving the shot when the Hereford player was though on goal near the end of the game. Seldom has my heart been so in my mouth.........

About 4 mins in......the whole clip is worth watching

Bob, Pom-Pom, Whiting, without question, has to go between the sticks.

If being court martialled for desertion, and then killed in action during World War 1, isn't enough to make you a cult hero, then l really don't know what is.

Adam El Abd. Was solid for us, then under Micky Adams II became a total liability.

When Gus arrived and announced he was the best defender at the club, those who noticed either chuckled or just assumed he was trying to repair the player's confidence. What happened next was astounding really - AEA became genuinely one of the best defenders in the division and was a major contributor to that league one title winning side.

Absolute definition of cult IMO.

Bryan Wade - noted for one game then didn't do anything else
John Crumplin - Football Genius, marked the great Jon Barnes out of the game at Anfield
Hans Kraay - just for his jumping around in the penalty area in front of the keeper
Sneaky George - For that goal alone
Tony Meola - Oooh a Yank keeper and Americans in football at that time were rare

Teddy Maybank. More famous for his off field lifestyle, but part of the 1979 promotion team.

Not just for the superbly headed own goal (about two inches above the ground) but also for coming on as a sub, and within minutes receiving a red card, and getting sent off.

hawkins was just calamity after calamity

from memory he actually started off ok, got injured and it was just a continuous shambles from there

the hartlepool own goal was the highlight- poor bloke, especially as in the replay that resulted from his own goal he gave away a penalty with us 1-0 up and we lost 2-1

poor bloke just couldnt catch a break

Peter Smith - Peter Suddaby - AEA - Graham Pearce

Tony Tiger Towner - John Templeman - Pau Tank Clark - Vicente

Alex Dawson - Robbie Reinelt

Subs:
Powney (GK)
Don Shanks (apparently shagged Miss World, so has to count as a legend!)
