Which unknown Support Act did you see who later went on to become famous

I saw Coldplay at The Crypt in Hastings many years back. I'm pretty sure they supported another act too, though I've no idea who.

Two stick in the memory - 10,000 Maniacs supporting REM (at the Hammy Odeon in London) and Bon Jovi supporting Kiss (Brighton Centre). IIRC it was the first night of the UK tour and they said the first time Bon Jovi had been outside the US...

Not sure if it was the Au Pairs, I moved back to Brighton in 1980 so would have bee around then.
On further reflection I do remember bumping into an old school friend and him saying that it was their first gig/tour.
Looking on Wiki (the route of all knowledge) I see the Tourists split in 1980. so they would have been the Eurythmics by then.

I stayed in the bar while James supported the Smiths at Portsmouth Guildhall. This must be same tour as the Dome concert mentioned by other posters, but it was 1984.

Graduate, supporting Judie Tzuke at the Dome in around 1978. Graduate went on to become Tears for Fears. It wasn't a great concert.

I went see the Stranglers at the Brighton Centre in 1987 area because of the support band, Xmal Deutschland

Ooh I was there - I went to that to see them too. Stranglers were good though.

Plenty of AFTERTIMING and bullshitting going on here. Anyway I WIN as I saw KAJAGOOGOO supporting FASHION at the Dome in November 1982 and afterwards LIMAHL sat on my LAP and we spoke about the FIRST things that came UP.

Radiohead Supporting Kingmaker at Sussex Uni.

My band then supported Radiohead and the Richmond a few week later........... nope we never became famous

Also saw Nine Inch Nails Supporting Guns n Roses at Wembley although they had released pretty hate machine so i think they were reasonably famous.

Would love to have seen NIN back on some of their early tours. Sadly I was only about 6 at the time

The New Hearts went on to become Secret Affair.

At The New Hearts gig I always remember the lead singer, Ian Page, mid way through their set, announcing that the next singer was dedicated to Rod Stewart.

I had always like Rod Stewart, and so this announcement perked up my interest, on what so far had been a dull set.

Ian Page, then said the song was called "Flash ****!"

Squeeze

4th on the bill at the Top Rank Suite

On before The Radio Stars, Eddie & The Hot Rods and someone I have forgotten.

Instantly likeable!

Squeeze were certainly bottom of the bill but I don't remember there being a 4th band. I remember that Squeeze had 'Take me I'm yours' in the charts at the time but didn't play it. Great night at the Top Rank at a time when Albion were riding high in Div 2.

Thats was my first gig! Top Rank DEC 1977! We got jumped by teddy boys twice between the station and west street

Thanks for that, I can't remember there being anyone else playing and didn't have anyone else mentioned on my ticket, do you know who was on with Genesis and Lindisfarne, love Rare Bird hope I can say I saw them although obviously I don't remember a thing, well apart from dancing on the seats that is! Will have a scout round to see if I still have the ticket.

That was John and Tony Smith's Charisma label tour. 6 groups over 2 evenings. Genesis, Audience, Lindisfarne Van der graaf generator, Rare bird, and Brian Davidson's Every which way. I was at both of the concerts.
