Sorry, I don't remember any of those names probably because I was in the QP infants school in 77 (not the junior school which I think you went to after St. Mary's). In fact the only thing I remember clearly about my first year at QP was the silver jubilee, because we had a 'street party' in the playground. You probably went to school with my uncle Neil Funnell, who was also in the last year of St. Mary's.

The name sounds familiar. Ask him about the teacher who went to Minnesota and then came back and made us make those Indian catcher things... if he was in my class he'll remember.

Yes I was at the junior, was 10 then. We moved to brighton just after the jubilee and started St Marys September 1977.

Remember that the little shops on the road that St Marys School was just off (Eastern Road?) was great for nicking pannini stickers.

John's newsagents and the Hong Kong chinese takeaway. There was a fruit and veg shop for a bit in that house in the corner by the steps.

Nobody else prepared to admit to going to being a part of the Littlehampton massive?

Knocked it down & best thing to happen to it! Buggered my edjoocashun and added another year in Sixth Form to retake O Levels. Ended up with a Degree so it was the school's fault...not me guv!

:angry::tantrum:

Same here - despite being in 'A1' all way up, came out with just two O levels..

Stringer 85-89, long before it was a desirable secondary school, it was run by a Jurassic neo-fascist Head Teacher and the desired outcome by most pupils was just to survive until the 5th year!

I'm sure when my mum was looking to place me circa '81, that Varndean had the best exam results, followed by DS, with Fawcet 4th/5th and Falmer a distant last..

That's an interesting point. When I was at school "Dottie Onkers" was seen as one of the worst schools in Brighton, to be avoided if at all possible: it was a bit of a shock to discover about eight years that it's now one of the most desirable. When did that change happen - and why? It looks like the change happened in a decade, which is an incredible shift.

See above, not how i remember it.. :shrug:
