Stones was a freak transfer. I guess they forked out for potential, although I’d take dunk over stones.
A better comparison would be Michael Keane who went for about 25.
£30m is a lot of money.

Van Dijk £75m
Aymeric £57m

Prices for outstanding CB’s have very recently gone up a great deal.

Dunk £35m?

Jurgen Locadia if he doesn't get any game time BUT also assuming that 'somehow' other clubs / agents actually take a punt on a player who they have never actually seen in a game !

I think that Arsenal will come knocking with an offer for either Dunk or Duffy as regards the rest I do not envisage any offers. Should somebody come in for Stephens or Gross would Wilshire be available to replace them.

I worry about Arsenal coming in for Dunk and Duffy, especially if Wenger goes and they bring in someone to rebuild the squad .

Christ.

Van Dijk and Laporte are outstanding defenders.

Lewis Dunk is not. He's a good defender (in his first season in the Premier League), but is not outstanding.

So are you saying Van Dijk is 3 times better than Dunk?
Is that with or without the premium paid for Home Grown Players?

Did I see somewhere on here that LD shouldn't go to Everton because they destroy players careers, yet Arsenal have cropped up loads of times. Just a thought but can anyone remember a player in recent seasons who has IMPROVED after moving to them?

Did I read or hear that Arsenal have offered him a contract allegedly for less than he is on now, and he has obviously rejected it.
I can see him here actually.

Could we afford Wilshere even on a reduced wage? I suspect he’s in a different level when it comes to wages. He’ll end up at Everton probably where they seem prepared to throw big money around.

Dunk is worth about £30m maybe 35. He’s nowhere near as good as van dyk. He might be one day but vvd absolutely bossed it for Southampton.

Maybe we need to throw a couple of games to put people off the scent. This Premier League lark is proving rather too easy for our first eleven.

Actually, maybe it won’t be a player and will be Winstanley?!

With all the money spent in the premier league, a lot of chairman must be pissed off that we’ve signed true premier league quality in Ryan, Schelotto, Propper, Gross and Jose for under £40 million this season.

Not to mention Knockaert, Duffy and Bong previously for a combined total of approx £7.5 million.

In fact, the 14 players we used today cost less in total than Aubameyang.

Jose, an old school footballer who is not afraid to take on defences and pop them in.
Oozes confidence.

Duffy's value would double if he could learn to head it down in front of goal.
He should study the goal GM scored today, hard to read for a goalie, I used to hate them.

We are on the brink of survival with games to spare, who would have thought it.
We need another couple of seasons to show we are not a flash in the pan.
Keeping the cream of what we have and adding is the key.
Most of the old guard that got us promotion will go at the end of this season, but with memories of a season in the sun to cherish.
Can only get better.
