Thank you very much.
:D

Any albums worth a listen?

I recommend watching The Filth and the Fury or reading England's Dreaming by Jon Savage.

Either way if you have anything more than a passing interest in music or youth culture you should find out. They were important!!

Another vote for HITS, although so many great tunes on the debut album, I'm a big fan of EMI.

I know it's very much against the whole spirit of the thing, but for me it's Anarchy in the UK because of (sorry) Steve Jones's guitar solo.

I've voted HITS but could make a case for all 4 especially the intros. But by far & away my favourite is Ray Of Gob where some guy mixed Pretty Vacant, God Save The Queen and Anarchy with Madonna's Ray of light. Awesome. No idea how to upload it on here but check out Ray of Gob on YouTube.

Anarchy In The UK as it just about summed up the youth then, pretty pissed off to say the least.

Given that 1977 was supposed to be Year Zero in the history of Punk, the Peel Festive 50 that year was not particularly reflective of the mood

1. The Motors: 'Dancing the Night Away'
2. Althea & Donna: 'Uptown Top Ranking'
3. The Motors: 'You Beat The Hell Out Of Me'
4. The Rezillos: 'Can't Stand My Baby'
5. John Cooper Clarke: 'Suspended Sentence'
6. Desperate Bicycles: 'Smokescreen'
7. Marlene Webber: 'Right Track'
8. Neil Young: 'Like A Hurricane'
9. The Clash: 'Complete Control'
10. Frankie Miller: 'Be Good To Yourself'

whereas a mere 12 months later it was

1. Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK
2. Clash - Complete Control
3. Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen
4. Stiff Little Fingers - Suspect Device
5. Magazine - Shot By Both Sides
6. Sex Pistols - Pretty vacant
7. Clash - White Man In Hammersmith Palais
8. Buzzcocks - What Do I Get?
9. Public Image Ltd. - Public Image
10. Undertones - Teenage Kicks
11. Stiff Little Fingers - Alternative Ulster
12. Buzzcocks - Boredom
13. Damned - New Rose

Good spot. Always thought that 77 was the best year but clearly not by those lists. 1978 she's so modern in the charts when spuds came to town!

Pretty Vacant, firstly because its an all round classic, and secondly because you won't hear more obvious swearing on the radio pre watershed. Well played, lads.
