Which is your favourite Albion game that we lost?

My choice is when we lost 5-3 to Cardiff back in '94.

I think we were 5-1 down and managed to pull two back. A great atmosphere with the trouble threatening to erupt. The game had everything, apart from a Brighton victory.

Blimey, I think I remember that game (evening match?) I left when we were 3 or 4- O down....

A tuesday night and I think we were 3-1 down at half time. Memory is a little sketchy - Only 13 at the time, but an abiding memory. A Kurt Nogan double and I think we booed a player off the field that had broken his leg.

BHA 0 Arsenal 4 - our first match in our first ever season in the 'top flight'
Two of the Arsenal goals were scored by players later to be involved with The Albion - one as a player the other as Manager.
Mrs Inkerman and I got to The Goldstone early that day and found that there was already a long queue at the turnstiles so instead of walking around soaking up the pre-match atmosphere or getting a drink we had to join the queue.
When the game started we saw very clearly how difficult it was going to be at that level but enjoyed it for the experience of playing a team like Arsenal in the same division rather than just due to the luck of a Cup draw.

London
Spurs a couple of years ago was fun, as was the Swindon playoff 'loss' obviously, but also for some perverse reason our 5-1 smashing by Plymouth a couple of seasons ago was great fun.

The shine was taken off the day for me when I saw Arsenal fans indescriminantly attacking Brighton fans walking away from the ground...cockney scum.

The 2-3 replay defeat to Liverpool around 1991 at the Goldstone, phenomenal match. 1-0 down, then an equaliser from Small that was a MILE offside. My all-time hero Byrne putting us 2-1 up, before a frankly INCREDIBLE equaliser from Ian Rush, swivelling on the edge of the area to crack one into the top corner past Perry when there really looked like nothing was on.

Think McMahon got the winner in ET. Utterly exhausting match to watch, but I've never been so proud coming away from a defeat. They were Champions at the time as well.

Gerbil - all Londoners are cockney scum, can't beat a good racial stereotype and tarring everyone with the same brush, perhaps I should have just referred to them as dirty northern barstewards.

4-3 at home to Millwall back in 91-92 season. Mark Gall scored a brilliant individual goal. It was end-to-end stuff, but violence was lurking... there is something about the hint of trouble that makes a game better... as long as it doesn't happen of course

The 5-3 home defeat to Charlton (around '86 i believe). That was some game. My rather sketchy memory tells me it was 3-3 with about ten minutes to go and could have gone either way and we had Martin Keown up front due to an injury crisis.

My favourite defeat of recent years would be the 4-2 drubbing at home to Wigan. They were a different class that night.

I quite 'enjoyed' the 2-1 at Spurs in Jan 06. We really played well, the Chippy free kick was great and it took a really class goal by Keane to beat us.

Ditto. One of the best Albion performances against a higher division team that I have ever seen. We were terrific that day. it was only a screamer from Robbie Keane that stopped us getting a deserved replay.

Two stand out. The first was the League Cup game v Wolves in September 1969. Great game-we outplayed them for 70 minutes leading 2-1 but teir class told and they cameback to edge it 3-2. However this is with hindsight as I was 13 when I saw the game and remember being heartbroken!

Later on as a more cynical 20something I saw us play West Ham in October 78. The Hammers including Brooking and Devonshire in full flow really did play their 'academy of football' stuff that day. We matched them for most of the game but they beat us 2-1. On that day it didn't seem to matter that much though.

Both at The Goldstone of course
