i had a similar conversation with someone who didnt want to recognise the term Heterosexual- he wanted to be a straight man, not a heterosexual one .I think there was a poll that had homosexual man, bi man, heterosexual man.
If someobne doesnt want to identify with a medivcally and scientifically accepted term thats fine, however when being asked a specific question about the very thing that that term expressly identifies,not using it makes the answer meaningless, anyone on that poll who now identifies as man, would be correct to answer man, but it invalidates the entire poll. if you dont want to participate fine, dont, but whether the poster likes it or not, given that the question is directly relating to the gender a person identifies with NOW, the term CIS Man answers the question, Man does not

Who are you to decide that? The entire point of multiple genders is for inclusion for everybody. If you want to identify as just a “man” that is your unalienable right according to those who agree with multiple gendering. If I want to be a man, and not a cis-man, I will be. What you’re essentially saying is unless I agree with the current vogue I am not entitled to contribute.

Personally don’t give a shit if someone wants to identify as a cat but yes, yes I do find it weird

If it was one of my kids then of course I would get more involved, but as things stand live and let live even if I don’t understand it. No reason for it to make me angry or annoyed or even bothered by it.

imo this is where the whole issue eats itself. if someone genuinely wants to identify as a women, that should be sufficent. dont need trans-woman, unless for specific situations where their transistion is relevant. likewise identfying as man, if you are born and identitfy as a man, is sufficent. insisting on any prefix denies the identity (of being a man or woman). really its about conforming and confirmation from the rest of the population, though having a proliferation of prefixes just makes the whole thing ridiculous. i read about someone being tri-gendered (or another term), they believed they were man, woman and neither at the same time, all the time. seems very exhausting to me.

I’m supportive of people being able to identify as they wish but anyone looking at that list who doesn’t think it utterly ridiculous, is mad in my opinion.

I had to look up Cisgender to check that it really meant what I presumed it meant…. Which is that I identify with the gender I was “assigned” at birth. While wanting to say I wasn‘t assigned it, I was born with it, I can say in the words of the old Spencer Davis song “I’m a man, yes I am”.

but having just turned 70, I would include myself amongst those who don’t really understand a lot of this stuff! BUT that doesn’t in the least mean I dismiss it. I have a daughter who is gay and happily married, but I realise that is relatively uncomplicated. I have the greatest of sympathy for those who struggle with such things, and realise what sort of a struggle that can be.

I use Sure Cotton Fresh. It’s not over feminine but I can’t stand men’s deodorants. They all remind me of teenage boys desperate to impress on a first date to Crawley bowl.

I buy it specifically, no borrowing off the lady.

It’s a choice and I expect everyone to respect it and give me things.

If I write 'Lewis Dunk (Brighton and Hove Albion captain) and Roberto de Zerbi (Brighton and Hove Albion manager)...' as Albion fans, we almost certainly shouldn't need the qualification in brackets (parentheses*), but they are there for wider audiences who might not be familiar with who they are. There's no difference here in GENDERGATE, apart from people who are seemingly easily outraged (often over nothing) being outraged

The thought process of some objectors has to be considered to really understand where they are coming from. The argument seems to be:

You cannot be any gender other than male or female because the existence of other gender brain patterns is not supported by evidential proof.
I am angry about you doing this because it conflicts with my belief system which is based on religious faith that is not supported by evidential proof.

Maybe cultural impact or if there is something in our environment disturbing the process. If a lot of people think they were born into the wrong gender or wrong race or wrong whatever, something has gone wrong.

Maybe cultural impact or if there is something in our environment disturbing the process. If a lot of people think they were born into the wrong gender or wrong race or wrong whatever, something has gone wrong.

Because now if a girl likes playing with trucks rather than she just being a girl who likes playing with trucks there's an insidious element out there who will be pushing children to believe they are born in the wrong body.

Something has only “gone wrong” if people can’t transition to a new identity. I can’t speak for gender or race but I certainly feel I was born in the wrong country. Thankfully I was able to do something about this. Others should also be able to.

Above all though, Sam Smith wanting to be a them doesn’t impact me one bit, so why should I worry?
