Lewes Boys Club early 70's. (It was really Landport Boys Club).

Not forgetting the mighty Pells School. We were quality & I loved the 7 a side tournaments every Saturday. Lewes Priory was shit. A shit school with a shit team.

I had a spell with as Asst manager with bevendean badgers before running a Queens Park Jags for a few years then back to badgers.

Saw John Wescott playing for old Town Boys, Joe El Abd of Saltdean & Bridgeview of lewes had a talented pair of twins, the Johnson boys?

My memory is not too brill but I'm pretty sure it was Hove Park Colts for one season in the late seventies. If I am right the team had only just started. We used to train in evenings behind the bowling alley. Started out as a defender in the pre-season five a side comp which we did ok at. Then became goalkeeper and remeber we lost our first game 10-0 and one goal slipped through my hand. I was only 12! Rest of the season was up and down then got a scholarship to Brighton College and couldn't play anymore.....wasn't until went to Rye at 13 that I started playing again for Rye and Icklesham. Played cricket for Rye and Hockey for South Saxons.

I might be wrong about Hove Park Colts although that name is clear and we played at Hove Partk (for some reason Dynamoes also comes to my mind...)

Westdene School 1974-75. We won the 2nd division and lost the (Baker?) Cup final 4-3 to Moulscoomb who had Paul Gent who was the Brighton boys star of the time. Sadly I can still name the Westdene team: Gooders, Le Masurier, Pete Brown, Bigg, Gavaghan, McNally, Eyles, Carol, Phil Brown, Pope and Mills sub Stein. Any of you out there? I think Phil Brown is manager of the Co-op at Nevill Road. I used to go to the Albion with Phil and Mark Le Mas (Tubby).
Also Westdene Sunday team until about 1978.

Burgess Hill U-16s followed by Cuckfield Town (Sunday League).

Looking back, I gave up playing too early.

How soon is now?
This is like Junior Footballers Reunited

I started at Bevendean Barcelona, but wasn't really good enough to break into their already very settled team, then Bevendean Bulls and finally finished junior level at Hove Park Colts - This would all have happened from around 1983 to 87/88. When Benson & Hedges and girls came to the fore for a few years...

Denton and South Heighton U10s - U16s... then Newhaven U18's

'Bout 16 years ago. Had some great games against Whitehawk who had a certain Darren Freeman playing for them. Also played against Simon Rodger who played for Kings Manor and Kim Grant at Adur Athletic.

Hove and Portslade also used to have a really good Scout football league. I played for 6th Hove (St Nicholas). Used to play the 17th Hove who couldn't put out a full team so we used to beat them about 18-0 !!!

Bollocks did you !!

When I played for 17th Hove we won everything !!

How old are you ?

A great thread and very enjoyable.

But I cant help thinking that maybe the level of football attained by most on here is so very low, it makes you wonder how some can post such 'authorative opinions' on detailed football matters.

I accept that this is what makes football such an intriguing sport to follow and long may it continue, but is it not lost on some that actually there is no reason whatever that many of us could really have a clue at how teams should be picked and managed, and as for opinions on tactical play ...... well !!!
