My mates say I should write a book about my life, it's been a mad journey but I'm glad it's settled now. I met my Mrs almost 10 years ago and she's played a huge part in helping me focus on what matters.

It's certainly had its ups and downs

The 90's without a doubt were an absolute rollercoaster.
I was into jungle techno early 90's, started going to Sterns when I was 14. Due to a cheating girlfriend trying to start a fight between me and the lad she cheated on me with, me and him saw her for what she was and ended up being really good mates, we travelled all over the country going to raves and popping pills, the rave scene was my life up to the mid 90's when unfortunately the drugs well and truly took over.
Got kicked out of home by the time I was 16, homeless for some time which just made matters worse. Violence, drugs, crime, all went hand in hand and honestly didn't see a way out. Attempted suicide a couple of times, basically just on self destruct.
I had no contact with my family for years until I met a woman who convinced me to patch things up with my mum, I'm incredibly lucky to have done so as my mum passed away suddenly a few months later.
Didn't properly sort my life out until early 2000's but even now I think the life I lead in the 90's has made me a much stronger person, all the wasted years made me decide to resit my GCSEs, which lead to maths and English degrees, IT training, and so on, turns out I'm actually a half decent human when I believe in myself, shame it took so long.
Anyway, the 90's definitely shaped my future, I look back on that decade with love and hate in equal measures, but try to focus more on the good and use the bad times to better myself.

Eighties without a doubt were my defining years. In hindsight a fabulous decade, but didnt always feel like it at the time!

90s without a doubt.

Ended the 80s / started the 90s in more of the Mecca style clubs like The Event or drinking in the sticky carpeted Gloucester. Then discovered the joys of dance music at the Shark Club and the The Zap.

Had the money and freedom to travel the country watching the Albion with a great group of mates, some properly funny alcohol fuelled trips. I've just tried to fill in Futbology from those days. It won't be 100% accurate but I reckon I did 46 games in 90/91 and 31 in 91/92.

As the gruesome twosome took over our club most of my mates got banned and clubbing took over from football for a while. Met Mrs GB in 1996. Married in 2000. Still together - poor woman.

Although many of my mates had been banned from the Goldstone I went back to football for the York game and was on the pitch. It sent me right back into the fight. Fans United was incredible. Couldn't face Hereford though. Still regret that.

Work wise I progressed from a wet customer services rep to knowing a fair amount about IT, moving from a financial services company to getting a job with a software house in 1999, Mind you, my boss for most of the 90s was terrible

And 90s music. Still all over my playlists and coming back at me from a daughter who's into Radiohead, Pavement and cheesy dance music.

90’s. I love that whole era. I caught the end of it but the music, fashion, football, and comedy were amazing. Word cup Italia’90, Euro 96 were special.

90s. I was 15 in 1990 and just starting to find myself a bit, though the music of the late 80s was the start of it. Moved to Brighton in 1993 and have stayed in the area ever since. When I look back I see that decade as the golden era. As others have mentioned, Italia 90, Euro 96, France 98, the music, the Goldstone, the countdown to the millennium, the clubbing in Brighton and the sense of freedom, the optimism and the positive impact of the early Blair years, I did a load of backpacking in fascinating countries and grew up a lot...if I could turn back the clock and relive any part of my life I think it'd be summer of 96. I was working in Safeways in Kemptown that summer, in a house-share with the guys who are still my best mates, as the poet Levi MacAllister says "old enough to comprehend but young enough to dream" and just loving life...

Definitely 80’s
Started get some real confidence and at 20 to 22 got very drunk at football. Then had my first serious relationship bought a house. Got told I loved The Albion more than her and well.
Met my wife in 86 ( Brighton supporting family )
Had my first child in 89….. Mrs Q didnt want me to go on The Gulls Eye coach to Plymouth but I went and only just got home. That’s a story for another day
So Im going 80’s
It was all in that decade
I’ve just remembered something…… we got arrested coming back from the Peterborough cup game in February 86. Arrested in Cambridge… that’s for another day as well,

The fifties for me. Left school, first job and girls, girls girls! The change from wartime restrictions and the formality of that era swept away by rock and roll. Life was never the same.

Late 80s early 90s so a bit of both 80s and 90s but waited until 2003 to start a family when I just got into my 30s . Think growing up in the 80s and being a young man in the 90s I have been lucky as for me they were the best 2 decades

Ditto - even down to the year of starting a family. 100% agree.

The 80s passed me by, nothing really memorable other than football violence, going to away matches and just being on edge most of the time. (One particular evening at Upton Park tube was especially memorable)
Apart from that I have nothing but personal resentment at what I could have achieved instead of just staying up most of the night, sleeping all day, gambling and propping up the bar of The William Tell.

The 90s, I got off my arse and got things done.

Yeah, I used to go by that name on a website called Choons.net where a bunch of us would upload our mixes (I was a bedroom DJ for years) and just brought the name with me onto here.

I feel like society just all got a bit shit the moment we hit the year 2000. I doubt any young people in the future will be saying how great the 2000’s were. I’m glad some of us got to experience the 70s,80s,90s. It’s a totally different world now. Technology advances have their perks but I wonder if the negatives outweigh the positives.
