Having won a tidy sum from Spain and Euro, I want to treat myself to a good read.Has anyone read any of Dougie Brimson's books? I just finished Jim Bruford's" Amoung The Thugs".Can anyone in the NSC family recommend me good football genre books.

Cheers

Better off wiping your arse on a fiver. Wankfests for hoolie wannabees. Better still, take the fiver and donate it to a decent charity rather than lining the pockets of people who write that shite.

Kevin Samson - Awaydays, and once you've read that, read everything else by Kevin Sampson, starting with Powder

Of course this is just an opinion

you could try this

Amazon.co.uk: Penthouse and Pavement: How to Survive in Football Without Sucking Up to the Old Firm (Mainstream sport): Bill Leckie: Books

typical SUN journo full of contradictions about chairmen in scotland when taken in context of our contemporary struggle agains archer.

he also has a dislike of us and his account of the doncaster and hereford games proves he wern't there(but he insists archer was)

also he makes a big point about us RAPING the goldstone on doncaster day.

what did he want us to do,leave it pristine for the bulldozers to crush?

still beats a hoolie book anyday though

Each to their own I think. I love those kind of books and have read most of them - both fact & fiction.

Not everybody wants to read Jackie Collins

I think those books have trouble distinguishing between fact and fiction! Some of them have partial value as social commentary, but unfortunately most of them seem to veer towards the beer-belly-and-tattoos crowd. The authors certainly know how to make a quick buck with the subject matter (similar to the Andy McNab and subsequent Soldier A/B/C/etd ad infinitum SAS books).

Personally, I think Jackie Collins books are pretty vile (have you actually tried to read one? Terrible grammar, structure and plot, but they also fill a niche in the market).

I have ordered Alan Mullery's autobio, because I remember Easy 10 saying he was enjoying the read.I have also ordered The Crew by Dougie Brimson, good starting piont. I am looking into Kevin Samson. I read Roy Keanes auto and I really enjoyed it, much better than George Best's rubbish, I drank a bottle of spirits a day, nonsense. If I can not get outbid on ebay,I'll buy Build A Bonfire, one fine day.

Last bio I read was on Paul McGrath. Good read I thought.

Has Bill Bufords brother written a book by the same name (well similar; he called his Among The Thugs) how confusing?

It's a few years old now but 'The Miracle of Castel Di Sangro' (Jo Macguinness?) is still by far the most entertaining and compelling football book that i have ever read.
