Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
You are aware that it is still early October.

Multiple chickens (plus gammon and sausages) as the meats. Bit expensive to source Turkeys over here and easier to cook 2-3 smaller birds anyway with our set up.

Only thing I miss every year being in Asia is parsnips.

Christmas is over two months away. Haven’t given it a minute’s thought yet.

I hate parsnips. I’ll send you mine!

beef, as turkey is dry, tasteless and overpriced.

I totally agree , Turkey is very dry , however as long as you bast it regularly and use a good quality stuffing like fresh roast chestnuts , the juices will help keep the bird succulent . Never use anything like sage and onion or breadcrumbs as apart from tasting revolting., it doesn’t add any juices to the Turkey whilst it’s cooking .

If you can get large Italian chestnuts all the better . You need about 7 pounds in weight for a medium/ large bird .

Canhams do nice ones or the butchers in Richardson road .

With news of the Avian flu pandemic worsening and many hundreds of thousands of turkeys being culled alongside the exchange rate drop with many foreign turkey purchases made in dollars expected to lead to an 80% increase in Butterball Turkey prices, what bird(s) will you be roasting this Christmas Day?

??

I bet you've got your Decs up already!

STOP TALKING ABOUT CHRISTMAS. IT'S ONLY EARLY OCTOBER. This is possibly a discussion for late November. No earlier.

I'm surprised that more of us aren't having 4 bird roasts.
Next you'll be saying that you're cutting down on your vintage wine selections.

Has Crodo placed his wine order yet?

I haven’t really been bothered about Christmas for years, but the dinner is something I really look forward to. Turkey, then turkey sandwiches (with Branston pickle) on simple white bread. Then finally a turkey curry.

Nothing posh. Just good simple food and good drink. Not into really rich foods.
