16th seems to be about par. A hard run in now but there are certain games I really fancy us in, Leeds for example.
Got two excellent back to back wins. Our approach football deserves at least six more points. BUT we are still bang in a relegation scrap, have never won at OT, never got a point in the league against Chelsea and have to tame Euro-chasing Everton.
I agree with this https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/ but wouldn't be surprised/ would love it if we could finish above Palace as well.
We'll move ahead of Burnley and Southampton. None of those below will overtake us.
I'd love us to catch Palace too - the gap's really only 4 points as we've got a far superior GD.
Either way, the Albion players have earned the right to look up the table just as much as down.
Got a draw vs Chelsea on New Years day last year
Nope, it's definitely 5 points.
If we had another 4 points we'd be a point behind them.
With back to back wins for the first time in a long time I looked up the table rather than down, so realistically where do you think we can finish this season?
I've set my sights on 12th
Team P GD Pts
10 Arsenal 28 8 41
11 Leeds 29 -2 39
12 Crystal Palace 29 -16 37
13 Wolves 29 -10 35
14 Southampton 29 -15 33
15 Burnley 29 -15 33
16 Brighton 29 -4 32
17 Newcastle 29 -20 28
18 Fulham 30 -15 26
19 West Brom 29 -37 18
20 Sheff Utd 29 -34 14
Sorry, I probably didn't explain myself very well here.
I meant to say that the gap was really only 4 points to Palace. If we could pull back 5 points on them, we'd be ahead on GD.
But regardless of how one looks at it, I'm sure all Albion fans would love us to finish above Palace.
With 27 points up for grabs, it's still possible.
So the gap is 5 points then.
If you think the gap is only 4 points, you’ll still be behind us, even with a better goal difference
No, the gap is only 5 points if GD isn't relevant...which of course it would be if both teams were level on points.
I'll concede that we may be seeing things differently here. And I'm happy to agree to disagree.
But that doesn't take away from the fact that Albion's better GD of 12 over Palace is unlikely to change dramatically in 9 games and is worth at least a point.[/QUOTE

Great comeback!
(If you couldn't understand it, you just needed to say.)

I don’t think you understand it !!
The gap is 5 points, not 4 ,
5 !!!!!!!!

Purely on points, yes, I'd agree that the gap is 5.
But that's not what I was arguing.
