This is not in response to losing 4-0 to the juggernaut that is the Petrol State Man City (although I thought we were dreadful for what it was worth).

I've been clinging on to the hope that RDZ will be with us next season, the squad strengthened (not 'Dahoud, Baleba strengthened'), players back from injury, some people moved on and we go on to have a really positive season again next year.

Watching us in 2024 though, this feels less and less likely. What do you think will happen between now and Christmas time (deep into next season) this year? I hope Tony, as he often is, is two steps ahead.

Bournemouth on Sunday feels quite telling as to what the future holds.

At some point the bubble will burst (if it hasn't already) - only natural for clubs our size having our moment in the sun. But hopefully it won't burst to the point of seeing us relegated anytime soon. We definitely need a big summer though or I can see us struggling next year whoever's in charge.

I can't see a scenario where RDZ leaves, I dont think he has any better opportunities, he's been out witted by the some very ordinary managers I think we'll add some quality players and have a decent top 10 finish.

I suspect this season has been a steep learning curve for him and he'll approach next season with less intensity. It's well documented that his training sessions are very high tempo and demanding on players. I'd argue this has contributed to our injury woes.

I don't think anyone will want any of our players/staff for big bucks as no ones had a great season . . . We don't need money ( complete guess obvs)

The big ones, for me, are Gross will return to Germany, massive boots to fill. . . And we need a few defenders as Dunk is close to his sell by date.

If Someone comes in with big Caiceido sized bucks for JPVH we're f***ed in defence! He's probably been our player of the season.

I expect we’ll have a few seasons bouncing around mid-table, hopefully followed by another standout season. There’s only a handful of clubs with the depth of quality, resources and pulling power to consistently compete in the top quarter of the table.

I’d guess - RDZ stays, TB digs out a couple more ready made PL players out of the budget, the kids who have had a rough ride the past few weeks develop into more PL ready players and there is a good season ahead. But realistically a good season is 8th place or so and a couple of good cup runs.

Is it well documented about the training? I’ve not seen or read anything but it wouldn’t surprise me given the injury list and that, apart from Solly, they all seem to have originated from the training ground.

Biggest red flag was Jack Hinshelwood breaking into the team and looking like he’d made he right back position his own, and then after only 17 appearances he’s got a stress fracture - a classic overtraining injury - and misses the last 3 months of the season!

A few players are moved on or retire, TB loosens the purse strings slightly and we bring on a couple of players who are first team ready and upgrades on current players.
We have a injury free pre season, and hit the ground running under RDZ.

With no European football, we have fewer injuries as we are able to rotate players, and have greater depth from the bench. With European qualifiers playing more games, we take advantage of their fatigue and injuries, and are in a strong position in the league approaching Christmas, and the League Cup Semi Finals.

I’m confident that we will make some decent signings in the summer, won’t lose anyone bar maybe Mitoma, and push on with a more fully fit squad next season. That said it will be tough as there will be a hard top six.

This season has to be a big wake up call to the board. If we have another summer where they show no ambition like last year, we could well decline further and get relegated.

I can't see anyone coming in for RDZ after the 2024 capitulation.
The fluid passing and tactical astuteness of 22/23, has vanished and been replaced by aimless potterball.

Personally I feel there is a big question over whether De Zerbi was lucky to inherit a well drilled squad or whether his coaching made us a better team.
I don't know the answer, but I was expecting him to do better with the resources available over the past 4 months.

Tony won't sack him,

RDZ will be here next season.
