Part of me expects Bloom to come out of any negotiation with Chelsea with a stack of cash, Colwill as a permanent signing, and Mudryk on a season-long loan. I probably need to adjust my expectations tbf.

That's because of the type of football we play - players that do well in our team should be able to do well in teams like City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Other clubs either don't have players playing in our style, or are rich enough that no one can poach from them. And the same goes for our managers. If smug eddie had done well with us, other clubs would be interested in him - but clubs won't imagine they have a chance of taking him from Saudi.

Can we please, please stop offering caicedo up for a swap deal with Colwill?

Its stupid. It's pushing out the door our least replaceable player to get a player who has been replaceable this season.

Yes Colwill is good with a lot of potential but caicedo is better and still has plenty more potential himself.


By keep saying colwill and 50m for caicedo were making the colwill deal contingent on losing our star player.


There should be NO mention of colwill at any point if Chelsea make an offer. Separate deals entirely.


And frankly if Chelsea come in for caicedo they should be told to f*** off. Repeatedly.

But it’s precisely the strategy TB has put in place.…….he’s playing the big clubs for their money to preserve our sustainability.

I’d say it’s more than preserving sustainability. He’s playing the big clubs to improve our squad, as was the case last season where the Cucurella transfer alone covered cost of Pervis, Enciso, Buenanotte and Ayari with about 25m net profit.

The great thing about Moises contract is that if he goes, it’ll be for silly money. We probably won’t be able to replace him with someone as good, but we will be able to get someone who’s very good and also have a huge load of change left to improve on other parts of the pitch.

At what point does Mr Bloom say that's enough now,finding the players we do before anyone else will soon be out the window as the lazy splash the cash clubs will eventually catch up and look where we do for these players,sooner or later if we want to continue our magnificent journey we will have to actually hold on to our players and subsequently pay better wages, it's not like Brighton and Hove Albion players are poorly paid but they know they could get better once we've turned them into superstars,( except Ben White obviously).

As much as I wish Macallister well I can't help thinking he has made a bit of a rick leaving unless it's just the money he cares about? I don't get that sense about him as I do for Cucarella for example I think he will be a squad player at Liverpool not a regular starter,we shall see.

As a Brighton and Hove Albion supporter you can't really moan about how we do business as the model is sound and makes money,I just wish we were stronger at saying no and the players we sign in the future are made fully aware that if they make it into the first team and succeed they can't just up sticks because Sky Sports think they could do a job at Spurs.

All the big clubs were interested in Evan Ferguson, he chose Brighton because there was a clear path to the first team if he did well enough, At the big 6 clubs, the opportunities are fewer.
The club absolutely should be strong in the January window, and not be pressured into selling then, but in the Summer, if players have good offers elsewhere and want the move, and if the club is offered good money, then the club absolutely should sell, so long as they have time to bring in a replacement.

I believe we are training the buyers, the players and their agents to not f*** around when it comes to transfers. If they go about it in the correct manner, and make a fair offer, we will do business.

They get the player they want, and are half way to staying inside the financial rules, we get the player we want, plus £50M.

There is probably some fatal flaw in this plan, apart from the trust issue, but I cant see Colwill being a pure makeweight with no fee attached.

I think the flaw is that they genuinely want to keep him and he will be starting in the heart of their defence next season.

Even if it was merely 'transfer to Liverpool? Not bovvered', why were we so keen to take £35 mill for Mac when we turned down £75 mill for Moises, and at the time Mac was on a long term contract and Moises wasn't?

Whatever has gone on behind the scenes, I suspect that our owner has a picture in his head, and a plan for everything. I have no idea what it is, but am a very long way from being so emboldened I'd even begin to question it.

Given Tony's money to play with, if I had been in charge of the club these last 10 years I can guarantee we'd be feeling lucky to be in the bottom half of the Championship. Do you think it it were you we'd be playing in the CL final later today rather than Citeh?

Sorry, I don't wish to have a go but it saddens me that people waste time and energy effectively criticising the club right now. I would imagine that on the eve of the Hereford game you were either in a locked room on 24 hour suicide watch, or scouring disreputable Kemp Town pubs in search of a gun.

That's also the way for it to go badly wrong, all it takes is one poor season with players on those wages and we could be back to the wilderness for years.

The most important thing is they we're sustainable. We can't compete with the big 6 on wages while Tony Bloom is our owner.

Just be happy that we're seeing the quality of Mac, Caicedo, Enciso etc for a couple of years of their career, and look forward to the next one coming through.

Until it goes wrong and the replacements aren’t cutting the cloth and then you can sink rather rapidly.

I thought that with Cucurella and Bissouma leaving, we got better.
De Zerbi is going to be backed in this window, one way or another I am sure we will have the players to play how De Zerbi wants to, and there is always going to be some turn over of players in the Summer. Better that we sell and take the money to get replacements than cling on and let them walk for free at end of contract. Going to be a busy window for us for sure.
