Hello all, just signed up here and as a Liverpool fan it's refreshing to see a mutual disdain for Chelsea. The enemy of my enemy and all that...

I can't stand the way they operate, the way I see it is Liverpool have had a bid accepted and the terms deal agreed and are free to contact and negotiate with the player. It seems like Chelsea have had agreements and deals in place with the player/agent for a while. With no deal between Chelsea and yourselves, surely this is a blatant case of tapping up a player?

I really hope any talk of Liverpool considering walking away isn't true. If we walk, Chelsea won't have to beat our offer and we both stand to lose out. Even if it's not meant to be, I hope we make Chelsea's life as hard as possible to get this one over the line.
Don't worry. There is no way Bloom would now accept a Chelsea bid lower than £111m. And he will only accept that if Liverpool are unable to agree terms with Caicedo (that is - LFC's bid effectively falls away).
But the reason we haven't agreed a deal with Caicedo is because he prefers Chelsea and he's waiting to see if a bid from Chelsea comes in.

If it was as reported, an 'auction' style bid off, which was concluded last night, then are are no more bids or offers to come.

It's a catch 22. He's waiting for another offer which shouldn't be allowed to be made. If it was explained that it's Liverpool or nowhere, maybe we'd be able to get the deal over the line or at least have a yes or no outcome so we could all move on instead of the stalling.
Agreed. That's pretty much the consensus view on here.

So it seems to be coming to light if Chelsea pay £100m+ they will get another FFP sanction which was obvious all the way through this deal otherwise it would of been done days ago.

It's the agent in the wrong. We wanted it done and dusted before the season started. We rightly accepted the offer that came in that time.

Somehow it is claimed that the player has a previous arrangement. So that's either illegal, or the agent trying to fiddle his dirty cash.

I'm certain we want nothing to do with Chelseas continuing mismanagement and would entirely rather sell to Liverpool and be done by now. Agents ulterior motives acting to disadvantage the player .

It seems odd that sanctions would be worked out in advance of a player purchase, rather than after the end of a season when all income has been calculated against costs. It also ignores the possibility of them selling any players either now, or in January. It sounds like BS.

Chelsea may be run by fuckwits, but even they will be pissed off when they discover they've been so obviously played by Caicedo's agent.
Or is it the agent(s) who’ve been played by Chelsea? Either way, the scumbags deserve each other.

I’m also concerned about Moises being exploited by his agents. I saw a story on Twitter earlier (so it was obviously true!) about Caicedo being just about to board the helicopter to Liverpool when he was advised to stay put in London, and that he was visibly distressed by it all. Despite his tough on-field image, he strikes me as being quite a naive, emotional, even slightly vulnerable person off it. I can imagine a situation where he gets a lot of stick at away grounds — booing and "what a waste of money" chants, and him not handling it very well.

Agree. We all know there is some discussion between prospectve buyers and the player's agent before deals are made, but it is usually along the lines of, say, "Do you think tour boy would come to us for £150K a week?"
Agent replies, "Yeh, I reckon" - at this point Fabricatio Romano Tweets 'Terms agreed'.
However, if in this case as it appears that there is some sort of agreement between Chelsea and the player, which the player feels he has to honour (or so his agent tells him) and the agent is pushing for him to go to that club because (as somebody has said on here) the agent wants to get enough money from the deal to retire on, then maybe there is a breach of reguations wich can be challenged?
Out of interest, when is it that only qualified agents are allowed to act for footballers? Soon, isn't it - and is the nasty little scrote bending Caicedo's ear qualified????
It goes against the craw, but maybe Liverpool and Brighton should get together and pay the bugger a few million quid, on condition that he does retire, and f***ks of.....right now!...and point Moises in the direction of a decent agent.
Anyway, ABC (anywhere but Chelsea!)

I have been reading very similar things all day on a Liverpool forum I frequent.

The consensus is that Liverpool specifically bid £111M (which is a very odd number) because they knew Chelsea couldn't beat it without infringing FFP rules.

To make things even murkier, if reports are true Chelsea are working on a £50M bid for Lavia. Which I think is a smoke screen, or they're playing games because they know we've had a longstanding interest in Lavia.

So I've got no idea how Chelsea will make the numbers work, unless they're banking on a fire sale and some fast outgoings.

I definitely think there's some truth in it though, as they pulled out of the deal for Tyler Adams today after fully agreeing everything and having the lad do a medical. They've given the poor lad the run around, but it does show they're likely trying to balance books and keep funds available for Caicedo.

Yes, I also thought this was tallied up at the end rather than the PL keeping some sort of running total. I suppose there may be circumstances where clubs who’ve had previous FFP issues are given some sort of private warnings by the authorities, or even by their own Finance people that they’re treading on thin ice. But that’s just wild speculation.

You will find that despite you lot being a ‘big 6’ club, you’re easily the most liked on here. There’s something about scousers that’s endearing and LFC always strikes me and others as a proper club. Also, many stories on here about when we’ve drawn with you at Anfield etc and nothing but well-wishes from locals. I also think if we were losing Ali Mac and Moises most would say LFC is the best place. They won’t get as much game time at Chelsea - it’s a basket case of a club. The Albion is ran 100x better than them. Respect 👍
Except for a few rabid anti-scousers who would swear on their mother's grave that any scouser found south of Crewe is on the rob! :facepaln:

It's the obvious tapping up of the player that needs reporting.

It would be bad to now reject Liverpool's bid having accepted it. But if they can't work out a contract that Moises wants to sign, there's not much anybody can do?

Should we just sit on our hands until the window closes?

If Chelsea put in a bid for at least as much, having given enough time for Liverpool to try to come to an agreement with the player, I think we are okay to accept it. Nothing "dishonorable" there. Alls fair in love and player contract negotiations.
Yep, and do away with promotion and relegation too, eh?

Interesting theory and will be vociferously tested when he plays at Anfield. Two footed lunge egged on by the fans incoming!
