I suspect our owners would like to keep a player of Caicedo,s ability, but sadly his agents not only disrupt their client, it has a knock-on effect throughout the club. The ability for the coach and recruitment to seek new players is continually disrupted by Caicedo,s " will he or wont he go..? "

What club can forward plan with a major team member acting like this at the last two transfer windows and looks like it will continue for future transfer windows....?

Sometimes....it just isn't worth it.

And sometimes it is. He had a brilliant second part of the season after a few weeks of exactly this in January.
Ended up player of the year - no sign of him downing tools or loss of form . RDZ a key factor there. . Club and player more resilient about this noise than we imagine.

Tend to agree with Crooks. Chelsea have bid 48 million despite knowing Saints will ACCEPT 50 and that the media is reporting Lavia wants Liverpool. Feels like a schoolboy tactic, one last desperate push before Sunday.

The Guardian piece is here. It's slightly more bullish if you're a Chelsea fan but not much. And they don't "predict" that he will start this weekend for Chelsea but more cautiously say Chelsea "hope" he will . Well fancy that.
My guess the journo been told that the clubs are speaking and ironing out finer details.

But we have been here this summer already.....

Finer details like a £10m difference.

Yeah Moises is the sort of kid that when he gets on the field he is 100% focussed. Perhaps he or his agent feel they have some leverage at this point of the season, but he really doesn't strike me as someone who will down tools once the games start. We shall see I guess.

I love how many people are saying what will happen when, quite frankly, none of us have a clue. Yes, that might happen.
The only thing that WILL happen is that Caicedo will, one day, leave and stop playing for Brighton and Hove Albion. Whether that is tomorrow, when he retires from football or somewhere inbetween, no-one knows. Not even him. Or even Fab Rom.

Desperate call to TB:

“Good morning Tone, it’s Paul”.
?
“Winstanley”.
?
“We worked together”
?
“Transfers guru”.

“Anyway, I thought I’d call you directly to cut out the middlemen, they’re preventing sensible dialogue. We’re both deal makers. We can’t stretch to £100m, so let’s meet in the middle, what would you say to £91m?”.

“Is that Barber I can hear laughing in the background?”

I think we do.... I think they know we do.... They're trying to make us think they'll walk away... We know they're trying to make us think that and not backing down... They know that we know that and are not backing down either.... Moises and millions of fans are all stuck in this eternal game of bluff and counter bluff until eventually one side does what they don't want to do....
I didn’t get that from Weir’s interview or from RDZ when he spoke about the player. He’s so young another season won’t hurt.

Well yes, he may be - Liverpool aren't a Ford Escort! Neither for that matter are Arsenal and Newcastle, where White, Trossard and Burn have all done well.
Excellent point but i was referring more to Moises going to Chelsea, i think if he went to Liverpool he may turn them into a Ferrari.

Jason Steele interview (from yesterday ?) playing out on Sky Sports News this morning asked about Moises.
Says he didn’t know anything but …
“All I know is He’s been training hard, every day as if nothing has been going on”

Training hard with a hamstring pull 🤥

We are holding firm.
Not one peep about a Caicedo replacement apart from the generic comment from RDZ about needing someone if he goes.
What will be going through the mind of Tony, David Weir and Paul Barber is when to set the deadline. It won’t be 31st August.
I expect we aren’t far off that deadline now.
A deadline to give ourselves time to do the deal and get in our targeted replacement.
Once that deadline is breached, no deal.
