Saudi’s being rinsed for money and paying a stupid fee. Unfortunately in the world of transfer fees one isn’t relevant to another.
This, it’s pointless comparing one deal with another and the Anthony Gordon transfer is possibly the worse example to use. He’d have gone with a triple tax a)fleece the Saudis, b)home grown mark up, c) January mark up as the winter window never represents value for money.

In addition the add ons are said to be about £5m so the potential deal is way short of what we can get for Alexis.

It turned out that 'most folks' didn't really have a clue? And they're not Tony Bloom/involved in the hierarchy of Brighton and Hove Albion?
TB will have the valuation he's happy with. That's all that matters really. TB plays hardball in a seller's marker. To mix metaphors for a minute: TB holds all the cards

Edit: Watch My Lips. Meet My Valuation.

This whole '£35m' is such a load of nonsense. I can see why that dilbert Romano posted it because he's got a whole community on Twitter retweeting and believing it and essentially hanging off his every 'Here we go'. But, in reality, all that's happened is a contract has been drawn up that states there will be further payments – possibly up to £55m, we don't know. It's a bit like buying a £50,000 car on finance after putting down a 50% deposit and then telling people you got it for £25k!

Plus we don't know any details of any potentially lucrative sell-on clauses, etc, etc. But then I've read on here and on Twitter that the fee is a FLAT £35m and those people must be ITK to say something with such conviction, so we really have been royally screwed over.

Or maybe not :dunce:
Not really. Because you would still have to pay £50k for the car, whatever happens.
If reports are true and mac is 35 plus add ons, it could be that all we get is 35 if none of the add ons are reached.
This is Unlikely, but making the point that’s it’s not the same as your car analogy. If your car analogy was right , the fee would simply be 55 mill. Which as it happens is what the bbc is saying we got, so who knows.

So when is Dahoud and Milner being announced?

Yesterday someone said the club can’t do that until 1 July , but that hasn’t stopped Liverpool unveiling Mac
But yet we announced we signed Pedro from Watford weeks ago

Mildly annoyed that scousers are gloating, but have no reason to believe we've cocked anything up

Best of luck Alexis. Hope you do well, but your teammates are s***

Glad this has gone through now. It's the time of year for me to stop thinking about the Albion and really get my head into the cricket

Didn't we just recently smash the club's transfer record on the Watford lad unveiled in the big coat? And didn't it barely raise a ripple on NSC? Strange daze indeed round these parts. Signing CMS created more of a stir

Nothing has changed other than folks don't know contract details. Neither do most of the press or media.
Sorry. Not seen what you're responding to, but: surely this presupposes that folks knew contract details previously -- which we'll probably both agree that they don't (nor do they know about the contract details now).

Well Palace have just announced Lerma whose contract is expiring like those two, not really sure what's going on at Brighton with no announcements yet 🧐

No you wouldn't.

At the end of the lease period, you can just sidestep the balloon payment and walk away from the car. And that's without considering you could default on payments, write the car off, or 'sell' it back to the dealer mid-lease. But there would still be payments on top of the initial deposit.

And that's the point I was making in relation to the transfer – 'some' people are saying as gospel the deal was £35m when it almost certainly wasn't – that is just the initial payment.

Mansfield Woodhouse, actually.
It's not a glitch Bozza needs to address. It is very simple to edit the post you are quoting. If you click on the arrow next to the name in the quote, it takes you to the original post and you can see what was actually said.
It's a disciplinary matter that needs addressing. It's absolutely outrageous to change an innocent post into a slur on an Albion player. As seagull-si failed to quote Q's post in either his first or pointless second post, I'll assist @Bozza with finding the doctored post which is buried here, 50-odd pages previously https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/thre...l-for-an-undisclosed-fee.401664/post-10690893

In cash terms we have made somewhere between £28 - £48 million profit on MacAllister. But consider what price the intangible benefits might be:

1. Having had a World Cup winning player at the Albion.
2. Having developed that player into the finished article.
3. Being able to use him as an example of what can be achieved at this club for every young player we try and sign in the future.
4. Respect earned for the club. Both domestic and international.
5. The improvements on Caicedo, Enciso, Gilmour, Buonanotte, Ferguson, Moran by training and playing with him every day, and how that might be reflected in future transfer fees.

Your knowledge of car leasing arrangements is more in depth than mine. I’ve always bought (modest) cars outright.

Hasn't stopped Palace announcing they are signing free agent Lerma either.

It's nonsense. They could be announced any time.

Apart from Vicente nothing has come close to the joy at signing CMS over Leicester and West Ham. We’ll brush under the carpet how we got the bum deal with Murray going to Palace and the goals that led to them getting into the playoffs….

Although knowing your thoughts on One in Ten Glenn you probably won’t be agreeing with me
