Haven’t chelsea just turned down our pathetic bid of £30 mill for Colwill ? And so they will when or if we bid £40 mill
You really have no idea do you.

I'm not entirely interested in the financial aspect of this transfer.
All I'm thinking about is how we've lost such an amazing player from our club.
We will move on, that's how Brighton works, but there is no one like Alexis.
I hope he goes on to continue his great career at Liverpool, another highly respected football club.

For as good as we are finding these talents I’m f***ed if we are not non league when it comes to selling them
Surely you are joking ? Please tell me you are joking. These talents wouldn’t join us if we didn’t allow them to move on. It’s a conveyer belt. The skill is in knowing when to sell and that’s the decision of the bloke who put in 500 million quid plus PB and their advisors.

apologies if explained before but, with the window opening on the 10th, how have all the transfers gone ahead thus far?
They haven't gone ahead.

As was the case with Pedro to us, Liverpool have merely said "We have reached an agreement for the transfer of..."

Have to say very surprised City never came in for him. I think he’s playing style aligns with theirs a lot better than Liverpools
I think he'll fit in just fine at Liverpool.

It would be interesting, though, to find out exactly what was in that contract he signed before the World Cup. Even at £55M (including add-ons) that's way less than Chelsea paid for his fellow World Cup winning midfielder, it's way less than West Ham will probably demand and get for Declan Rice - and it's not a huge amunt more than we are offering Chelsea for a 20 year old with half a season's PL experience. With that in mind, the mystery is why no other clubs came in for him. A nice little bidding war, perhaps! But no, just Liverpool.

Potter and Cucurella only decent profits rest lost out
Not really. Doubled money on Trossard when he wanted away and we’d got 3 years out of him. Burn we were never going to get much more for and I doubt we’d have sold him if it was anyone else coming in for him anyway. Biss was entering the final year of his contract. We still got a sizeable profit on him considering he could have walked 12 months later for nothing.

Could we have got more? Possibly but let’s not pretend we didn’t do very well out of those transfers.

It wouldn’t surprise me that his last contract renewal included a fixed price and an agreement he could join Liverpool at the end of the season, otherwise I don’t think he would have been with us this season. I am grateful we had him when we did and he was worth every penny of what we may have lost in a larger transfer fee. I wish him well at Liverpool because he’s a great bloke, and the Reds are my second team. 🫢

Transfers can be agreed at any time, contracts agreed etc, the window doesn’t matter in that respect. The window allows the players registration to moved to the new club, that’s when it all becomes “official “.

Just maybe the deal with Liverpool was in place before he signed the new contract and we insisted on it being signed so there could not be shenanigans this summer?

His Dad has been banging on about him going to Liverpool for ages
