It seems clear the "release clause" was a mechanism which specified £35m cash and add-ons to be negotiated based on our valuation of the player. So it both is and isn't a release clause.

Interesting that Fibz is one of the few sources that still hasn't referred to the add-ons on this deal ( he has on other deals).
I think Naylor may have got under his skin.

That's more like it! Liverpool still have a bargain, mind, but that's not a bad deal for us either. I guess that Romano character's supporters will now claim how right he was in saying the fee would be 'a lot less than' the £60M figure suggested (well £5M is a lot to some of us!) but I'm bloody glad his '£35M' was absolute bollox - that would have rankled for a while had it been correct.

Yeah, we really messed up by making massive profits on White, Cucarella, Trossard, Bissouma, Burn and Mac Allister. Non league, as you say.
