I think there’s an element of guess work going on, based on Romano saying that the fee will be ‘well below’ the previously suggested £60-65m figure.

Bissouma, Tross and Mac have all gone for less than their value, but we have had a lot of value from them within the team.
Cucurella and Ben White were only with us for a season. We rejected £70m for Caicedo after less than 1 season.

I suspect the club factor in the playing value they are being denied in these negotiations.

I think they are just taking a stab of what 'way less than £60m' means. I would also hazard a guess that if someone said 'way less than 60' it would be below 50.

Exactly. Hence us wanting absolute top dollar for Moises. We are saying to players that you will get your move but only when you've done your time or for an outrageous price.

What we aren’t factoring in is the huge profile Alexis has generated for us in South America. The fact that he’s now going to a ‘big’ club just adds to that.
The pulling power this gives to Sam Jewell in attracting talent from South America should be significant.
So not just the initial profit on the sale but the extra value Alexis has generated for us, plus it has set a very high hurdle for how we want talented players to behave. ‘Just look how Alexis behaved and in the end we didn’t stand in his way or price him out of a big move’.

No idea. I'm just reporting what I've read in their fans forum. I still think he would be a good fit for them, but if he doesn't hit the ground running he won't get much patience or support.
