Use Morrisons or Tescos or Sainsburys or Iceland depending on who I pass on my way home. For small items I use the CoOp as the dog likes the walk.

Possibly because it's not delivered pre-packed, but prepared by a butcher in every store.

Be wary of supermarket instore butchers and bakers departments , not everything is as it seems with meat unwrapped round the back before being taken out for the butcher to prepare and baguettes and loaves of bread warmed up in the ovens that aren't made from scratch in the bakery.

How on earth is travelling two miles down the road more accessible than going to your doorstep?

I was under the impression that the milkmen only delivered 3 or so times a week. Mr Morrison or Tesco however are able to be accessed morning, noon or night.

Besides, a 2-mile walk is good for you!

In London village.
The staff tell me Borough Market is simply delightful.

Different supermarket as they do some thing better than others. Just go to a different one to one I went to last time and see what I fancy. Hastings seems to have them all now

I don't use one myself but I suspect Britain's remaining milkmen would be shooting themselves in the foot somewhat if they only delivered two or three times a week?

Wrong regarding bakery I'm afraid. Baguettes and all bread are freshly made in store on the day.

My son's an assistant store manager at Morrisons and I only know how they operate. Frozen, part baked rolls and specialist type bread, baguettes etc that are finished off "in store" have been around for ages. All the packed meat (not chicken due to the salmonella etc issues) is prepared on site - ie the whole beef fillet comes in vacuum wrapped under nitrogen and is then cut to size and packed in a special area. I think you can even get the butcher to do specialist (eg boned lamb shoulder) cuts of meat if you want.
His only previous similar experience is at Broadbridge Heath Tesco and the Morrisons set-up is very, very different to that lot.

No, ours only delivers three times a week, but there's little problem with that as milk will keep for several days and we love the convenience of having milk on tap.

Sainsbury's for big shops, Waitrose on the way home from work for smaller shops that I can fit into bike panniers. Tesco express for convenience stuff. Sometimes go to the big Tesco on the other side of town for the good selection & well priced bottled ales and end up loading up on other cheap & often unhealthy stuff too.

What's interesting about this is that it's not, as the OP said, a simple question; nearly all of us don't have a place where we do our main shop - we use different stores for different things or shop as the mood takes us.

To be fair to the OP, this is a common fault, I see it on a lot of questionnaires and, when I worked in research for a supermarket, it's a mistake I myself made.

Brighton is also a town with just one big Tesco - and that on the edge of town - I wonder whether there'd be as much diversity of views in a small town with one big Tesco as the main supermarket.

Co-op in Hove. We previously shopped at Asda in Hollingbury but it's quite a trip and the prices have increased there I've noticed. Where's Aldi??
