Looked like a nasty fall on the last bend by the chasing pack. Guy was 2nd, commentators didn't seem to notice.
Young Sky rider, Eurosport commentators picked it up. He got back on his bike and hobbled over the line.
Magnificent turn out in Uckfield, crowds packed all through High St.

yes I saw that too , on that last bend by the pier , he seemed to brake and then lose control and fly over the barrier into the crowd or into the barrier, hope he was ok ... anyone seen or heard more?

He finished just in front of Dowsetts group, looked a bit tender mind.
No time for rolling around of the floor in 'agony' because 'he looked at me funny' in cycling

Watched it stood outside KFC in Haywards Heath. Can somebody explain why there was a group of about 12 went through and then 8 minutes later the rest. Why was there nobody between them like 2 or 3 mins behind the leading pack. Also thought it was OTT the number of police on motorbikes why so many ? There seemed more than I remember seeing when The Queen travelled back from The Derby by car. Do they hold the following pack up?

It's 'traditional' for a break to go up the road in the vain hope of staying away for the win, which did actually happen today.

There are other tactical reasons for 'sending a rider up the road'.

Finally there's an economical reason.
Obviously being in the break of a 4 hour race provides an awful lot of international airtime for the sponsors.

Just come up Bear road and there were a load of shirted up cyclists, they did not look like the ordinary pubic wearing replica shirts and the road weren't' closed, is this a warm up event?

You didn't see someone in a Brighton Excelsior club shirt did you!?

The police motorcycle racing team display around the Newhaven one way system was exciting! :)
The support car ' wacky races' event was good fun.

I was on the telly :bigwave:

I caught them on Bear Road and it was broken up completely. Vermote had a comfortable lead at the foot of the climb, with Van Baarle and Konovalavos chasing hard. Then it was another pair ahead of the Wiggins group. Dowsett was dropped and looked in real trouble. No one with him and forced to take the front of the group he was with - I assume Izaguirre was told to drop him, or had anyway?

Looking forward to seeing where it broke up. Kittel looked to be enjoying a gentle spin as if he was out on a club ride!

Coverage on ITV4 was bollocks. Ad break just before the 2nd group got to ditchling beacon, really annoyed me. My wife was telling me in Newhaven apparently they started rolling the cars rolling after the main group had passed, but another 20 riders in a group further back got caught up in traffic. Even where I was standing with a minute to go there where still cars coming the opposite way on the road and the police where getting them off the road. We got a long way to go before we can match what the Tour De France does. Apart from that it was great to see this event in Sussex.
