On a seperate thread someone mentioned Kevin Thornton.

To me, Kevin falls into the catagory of a player who at the time, was the most talented player in our team.

So, I was thinking, let's have your stories of players who, at the time they were in the albion squad, you thought were a class above, and where they are now.

I don't want people like Zamora. I want people who seemed great in comparison to the rest of the TRASH on show.

For your information, Kevin's career continued...

2009 Coventry Sphinx 2 (1)
2009–2010 Nuneaton Town 1 (0)
2010–2011 Northampton Town 36 (7)
2011 - Nuneaton Town 5 (2)

Jeff Minton?

Oh god, great suggestings there. I was 10 when I remember him best. He was like a god to me. My memory is that he scored EVERY week and always from 45 yards. I wont let anybody tell me otherwise.

Jeff was last seen at Welling United in 2009 apparently.

Seb Carole.

He went to NICE after us but played 0 minutes.

His last two WIKI entries are:

Burton Leonard Squirrel - Carole joined Harrogate and District Sunday League side Burton Leonard Squirrel in November 2011, scoring on his debut for the club.

Knaresborough Town - Sebastien Carole now plays in the West Yorkshire Premier League for Knaresborough Town.

That's sad.

I always had this memory of the great ( great as I knew it anyway) Malcolm Poskett, he seems to have moved in fairly lowly circles after us, Carlisle, Darlington, Stockport and finally Morecombe in 1988 ish.

Yup. I must've been a similar age (26 now) and remember him being Messi-like.

What happened to the bloke we got from Chelsea who was good for a little while, so we signed him and before the ink was dry he wasnt any good anymore? Midfielder? Alexis Nicholas or something?

He was at St Albans....and then his career record stops.

Did he retire in 2007!?

He was never all that committed to the footballer thing. Wasn't he a succesful stokebroker or something?

Oh O.K cheers.

Reminds of Jonny Dixon; gave up the game to be a pop star didnt he?

Something in music promotion.

(Moved to LA, went out with Holly Vallance. Fair play to the lad - its not like he was any GOOD at football, anyway)

Blimey. He's a better player than that, surely? Shows how cruel the game can be, and also how much of a difference having the right manager/coaches can make to a player.

Be interesting to see the results if a poll had been put up about 3 years ago, asking who would get further out of El Abd and Tunni.
