You had me doubting my own memory for a minute - I`ve just checked in my old Rothmans yearbook for season 77/78 - listed as a midfielder. He took over as number 10 from Steve Piper, although he did play right back a few times that season also. His date of birth is also wrong on that site. I think he was only 19 on his debut not 30.

I'm sure he played as a central defender in that Spurs game. His age was 19 on debut!! (You can't trust some of the stats).

he was a tough tackling midfielder who could also play at the back.
Yes he was only 19 on his debut and had only been signed a few days bafore but stepped into that game and a near 50,000 crowd as if he had been there all his life. took the lead and not afraid to boss much more experinced players.
Funny but he didn't look like the normal, ugly, hatchet man. he was more like a Viking warrior with the blond hair and often beard but soft he wasn't.

spot on. He broke Lil Fuschillo's (Luton?) leg with one of his crunching tackles.

Thanks so much for posting that link. Twas my first ever away game and the first time i have seen it since.
Funny thing is i cant remember Brighton wearing that away kit. Was it really 32 years ago.

My first ever away game as well. Ironically my first time in Tottenham, although i've now lived here for half my life.
