I may be wrong but when you commit a crime and are sentenced to do 'x' hours community service I thought that picking up litter was one of the tasks designated (amongst others).

A kind of rubbish of society picking up the rubbish of society.

There's so much on health and safety when doing community service, id be surprised if they were allowed, could catch something or touch a needle etc. Painting a fence is probably the most they would be allowed to do.

It's the council estate scum that were raised like animals and the upper classes who don't care that do it. Us normal people pick up the bill as usual.

I always carry a supermarket bag in my car and put all of my rubbish in it throughout the week and then empty it at home. Why do people do it. Confuses me. I wouldn't think twice about throwing litter out the car or leaving it on the side of a road.

It's all the fat reps with their blazers hung up in the back.
Munching down on a diet of Tesco sarnies and Red Bull, while they moan about Clarkson's ill-treatment and the moron in front driving a Ford.
Desperately trying to not think about the futility of existent as the blue tooth adaptor in their ear slowly liquefies their brains.

Completely agree it's disgusting and I cannot understand for the life of me how people's minds work that drop litter. :censored:

Everyone on here is moaning about it, but is anyone actually doing anything about it? If everyone wrote to the council to complain then they might do something about it.

I regularly pick up litter around where I live (if I see any). Admittedly it's not along the A23 or A27 thankfully.
It's called having some pride in where you live. If everyone one did the same, instead of saying it's not my problem, then the situation might improve somewhat...

How will increased public spending make people behave better?

Bit of a daft comment. It won't, of course, and it IS the fault of these idiots, but the problem has gotten much worse because it's no longer being cleared up. It's a common positive feedback mechanism whereby if people see that where they live is being looked after, they are more likely to look after it themselves.

It's only as daft as your "it's all the government's fault". People lazily blame 'Tory cuts' for absolutely everything rather than taking responsibility for their own actions. It's possible that funding cuts may have contributed (ditto Health and Safety legislation), but it wouldn't matter if people were better behaved.

The steps on the new bridge over the railway line at Falmer haven't been washed down since they were built.
They need a jet wash every month-----------fecking disgrace.
Who's responsible? The Albion/The Council/Railway---any ideas?
I think anyone coming to see a match for the first time should be shocked at the state of them :moo:

Right, so until a year ago when the council shelved their special dog-poo machine NO dog owners in Brighton were lazy at all but at that moment they all became lazy. Right you are.

Sorry, but IMO it's about the owner being responsible. Why not put the dog crap in a bag and take it home?

I don't think we're actually in disagreement here, but if people were better behaved we wouldn't even need a government!

So are people becoming too dependant on Councils and the Government doing stuff for them that people now ignore their own moral & social responsibilities towards society? (too much me, me, me and what can i get rather than what can i do to help look after my community?)
