We might stay up. We might not. Signing a good striker would unquestionably improve our chances of staying up, but it won't guarantee it. Any more than not signing one will guarantee that we go down.

It's not rocket science, but the simple fact is, there are no guarantees!

It’s not rocket science that it would improve our chances dramatically if we signed the right player, surely?

I think this team/squad is good enough based on the fact that we are 12th! I know it's only 3 points away from the relegation zone but I think we are good enough.

1 win in 11 is enough to make this bedwetter as shaky as a shitting dog though

Home games are easier than away. Home to West Brom, Watford, Southampton, Stoke and an Everton side in meltdown are considerably easier than home to Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs. Swansea will be a 6 pointer, Huddersfield have our measure and West Ham will be a totally different proposition to the side we beasted at the Olympic Stadium.

Trust me, we've done the easy bit and we've drawn too many of them.

It all evens out over the season. I wouldn't have said we'd be beating west ham away. Plus we only have 2 of the big 6 left to play away. The other 4, we could nick something from them. Loads to play for still. Loads of points up for grabs. Have faith.

Former Watford striker Odion Ighalo is interested in a move back to the Premier League.

He is currently playing in China with Changchun Yatai.

You made it sound like it wasn’t that important though...

You make it sound as if anyone who isn't going over the top with expressions of desperation isn't aware of where we are! Sorry if 'unquestionably improve our chances' isn't hysterical enough for you, but there you go.........

Is it hysterical to suggest that signing or not signing a striker is likely to be season defining. Don’t sign one and we have a very good chance of going down. 1 win in 11 with a hatful of chances fluffed, and strikers not being able to keep up with the wingers, so we often have nobody in the box to get on crosses, should set alarm bells ringing imo.

Saying there are no guarantees either way kind of misses the point imo and is a bit glib

I think West Brom, Swansea and Newcastle will save us in the end, but for the sake of our sanity let's not cut it fine.

Huddersfield have as tricky a run in as us, by the way, so let's not get too depressed by our final fixtures.

So time to sing the striker and get some more points on the board as early as possible.

I wouldn't say that. We did bring in Ryan, Propper, Gross, Suttner, Schelotto, Izquierdo, all of whom have shown their class at some point this season. More so, Ryan and Gross.

We do make some good signings, it's just the time it takes and the hush hush secrecy (understandable) that annoys me.

Yes, sorry, that is what i mean. There is nothing wrong with our scouting. We identify some very good players. But the process of actually getting these players to the football club needs to be improved.

That isn't what you were saying. You were insisting that if we didn't sign a striker we have no chance at all, and we will be definitely relegated, fact.
It isn't...........

Not glib at all, it's a simple fact. I don't know why that's so difficult for some people to understand.

Signing a decent striker improves the odds in our favour, that's all. No more and no less. It doesn't guarantee anything.

We are going to have to agree to differ then and if we don’t sign a striker I’d love you to be right. I do think we’ll go down if we don’t get one, hence the “season defining” comment.

Let’s hope we get one who helps keep us up, I really really don’t want to be proved right if we don’t.

So do I. The run of games between West Brom and Saturday and Swansea at home at the end of Feb are absolutely crucial. We need a bit of class up front to make the difference in those games.

I'm going for TWO strikers signing – one permanent and one loan. As for when they arrive? One in the next week and the other towards the end of the window (i.e. just before the Saints game).
*Cough*
