When we were in the old 1st Division

When we were in the old 1st division was there ever a point where we were really high in the table after a few games and if so can anyone produce a table that shows us up there in the stratosphere.

Table showing us finishing 13th not acceptable.

This to counter an Oxford United fan who's starting to get a little mealy mouthed.

Thangyouvermuch.

I think the highest we got was 7th?
I have a vague, very vague recollection that at one time we got to 6th. I think we had a chance to get higher but the next game we only drew. Whatever the position I DO remember saying to my mate as we left the ground: "I never thought I'd be disappointed to be walking out of here [The Goldstone] knowing that we were only sixth in the first division."

Just checked and it is 5th on the 22/9/81 after a 1 nil win away to Wolves.

Looks like the Molineux faithful didn't think we were worth watching. In hindsight, they made a good decision to stay at home. :lolol:
