When was the last white Christmas in Brighton?

My mum and I have been discussing when we last saw snow in Brighton on Christmas Day? I think it was 1962 but my mum thought we had snow about 1966 or 1967. I didn't come to Brighton for Christmas between 96 and 02 but I'm pretty sure they were mild Christmases.

I can't remember any since then - any of NSC's weather geeks know the answer.

There was a heavy snow in the early 60s but the worst snowfall in Brighton ever was 1948,we had just moved in at the top of Coldean into the new houses, the snow was roof level and we had to tunnel out!

Not at Christmas. It snowed between Feb and March in 87 in Brighton and everywhere. It almost caused the abanodment of the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

It remember Christmas 1987 as the first year I had a pint with my mates at lunch time no snow around then.

I'd say 1981 was last White Christmas or if not then 1962 apparently.

It snowed in Brighton on Christmas Eve 1981.

Good call. I remember I spent New Year's Eve in Liverpool that year and there was definitely snow on the ground when I was travelling up

In Lancing it was 1970 or 1971. Doesn't follow that the snow also fell in Brighton of course.
